What we offer

Safford Regional (SAD) Airport Limo Service

No rideshare at the terminal? Our Safford Regional (SAD) Airport limo service stages a chauffeur before you land, with sedans, Sprinter vans, and big coaches sized for every group arriving in Arizona.

Stretch Limo Service to and from Safford Regional (SAD) Airport

Safford Regional Airport sits three miles east of downtown Safford, and the drive that follows a landing there is usually the part travelers have thought about least. We fix that. Our Safford Regional (SAD) Airport limo service meets your aircraft on the ramp side of the terminal, loads your bags, and takes you to Thatcher, Pima, Morenci, Willcox, or the long highway run to Tucson and Phoenix with a professional chauffeur at the wheel. It is one of many airports covered by our Arizona airport limo service, and every booking at SAD comes with flight monitoring, a fixed quote, and a vehicle matched to your group size.

Private pilots, mining executives, observatory staff, college visitors, and families coming home to Graham County all pass through this quiet field. Whatever brings you to the Gila Valley, Union Limousine gives you a chauffeur who already knows the route from Aviation Way to your door.

What Sets Our SAD Airport Limo Apart?

Ramp Side Timing for Private and Charter Flights

Most traffic at SAD is general aviation, which means there is no airline arrivals board to lean on. We ask for your tail number or your operator's flight plan and track the aircraft in real time, so your chauffeur rolls up as the propellers stop spinning. If weather over the Pinaleno Mountains delays you, the pickup moves with you at no extra charge.

Chauffeurs Who Drive US 70 and US 191 Every Week

The roads out of Safford are open, fast, and lightly patrolled for breakdowns. Our chauffeurs carry water, keep the cabin at the temperature you choose, and know where the cell signal drops between Safford and Globe. They also know the Swift Trail turnoffs, the mine gate schedules at Morenci, and the quickest approach to Eastern Arizona College in Thatcher.

One Price, Confirmed in Writing

Your quote covers the vehicle, the chauffeur, fuel, tolls, and ramp waiting time. We send it before you commit, and the figure you see is the figure you pay. For round trips, multi day retainers, or a chauffeur who stays in the valley for a conference, we price the whole engagement up front.

Where Our Chauffeurs Take You From SAD?

Graham County is wide, and the towns are spread along the Gila River with long stretches of highway in between. Our chauffeurs cover all of it, and because the same team runs our statewide Arizona limo service, you can book a single ride from Safford to anywhere in the state without changing vehicles.

Safford, Thatcher, and Pima

The county seat and its two neighboring towns are five to ten minutes from the terminal. We serve the hotels along US 70, the Eastern Arizona College campus in Thatcher, the county offices on Thatcher Boulevard, and residential streets in Central and Solomon. The county's own visitor guide to Graham County lists Safford as 166 miles from Phoenix and 129 miles from Tucson, which is exactly why a pre booked chauffeur at the local field makes so much sense.

Morenci, Clifton, and Greenlee County

The copper operations at Morenci bring a steady flow of engineers, auditors, and contractors through SAD. The run east on US 70 and north on US 191 takes about 50 minutes, and our chauffeurs are familiar with the mine's visitor check in procedures and the switchbacks into Clifton. Greenlee County Airport in Clifton is the only other paved strip nearby, and we cover it too.

Willcox, Globe, and the Longer Hauls

South on US 191 brings you to Willcox and the wineries of the Sulphur Springs Valley in under an hour. West on US 70 through the San Carlos Apache Reservation reaches Globe in about 90 minutes. For travelers who could not find a flight into Safford, we also run direct transfers between SAD and Tucson International or Phoenix Sky Harbor, and our car service in Arizona handles the reverse trip when your departure moves to one of the big hubs.

Venues and Destinations We Visit Most

Mount Graham dominates the skyline south of the airport, and the observatories on its summit draw astronomers, students, and curious visitors from around the world. Public access runs through guided Mount Graham International Observatory tours, which depart from Safford on weekends from mid May through October and require advance reservations. We drop tour guests at the departure point in the morning and collect them at the end of the day.

Eastern Arizona College's Discovery Park Campus is the official visitor center for those tours and holds the Governor Aker Observatory, a full motion spacecraft simulator, and four miles of desert trails. We also serve Roper Lake State Park and its hot springs, the Gila Box Riparian National Conservation Area, the Graham County Fairgrounds, the Safford Airshow grounds, and the trailheads along the Swift Trail Parkway.

Nearby Airfields We Also Serve

Greenlee County Airport at Clifton, Cochise County Airport at Willcox, and San Carlos Apache Airport at Globe all sit within an hour of Safford. If your pilot diverts to one of them, call us and the chauffeur redirects.

Service Hours in the Gila Valley

We operate around the clock, 365 days a year. Late night arrivals after the terminal staff go home are no problem, because your chauffeur waits at the ramp gate with your name displayed.

Airport Information: Safford Regional (SAD) Airport

SAD at a Glance

  • Airport Name: Safford Regional Airport, also known as 1LT Duane Spalsbury Field
  • IATA / FAA Code: SAD
  • Address: 4570 E Aviation Way, Safford, AZ 85546, United States
  • Phone: +1 928 432 4235
  • Official Website: Safford Regional Airport
  • Owner: City of Safford, Graham County, Arizona
  • Field Elevation: 3,179 feet above sea level

History and Importance of the Airport

The field was built as a military auxiliary airfield during the Second World War, replacing an earlier civilian pilot training strip south of town where the county fairgrounds now stand. The federal government transferred the site to the City of Safford in March 1946, and the city has run it ever since. Over the following decades the city rebuilt the main runway, paved the auto parking lot, expanded the terminal apron, and added the business park that now surrounds the terminal. The airport carries the name of First Lieutenant Duane Spalsbury, a local aviator honored by the community.

SAD is the only public airport in Graham County and the primary air link for the Gila Valley. It supports mining aviation, air ambulance flights serving Mt. Graham Regional Medical Center, firefighting aircraft during the wildfire season, flight training, and a growing community of business jets and turboprops that use the field to avoid the two to three hour drive from the Phoenix or Tucson terminals.

Airlines Operating From SAD

As of late 2026, no airline operates scheduled flights from Safford Regional Airport. Commercial service returned briefly in January 2025 when Grand Canyon Scenic Airlines launched two daily round trips to Phoenix Sky Harbor using a nine seat Cessna Caravan, with passengers arriving at the Jackson Jet Center on the airport's south side and riding a courtesy shuttle to the PHX Sky Train. The route posted a 95 percent on time record but ended on September 14, 2025, when the minimum revenue guarantee that funded it ran out. In January 2026 the Safford City Council approved a business plan for roughly one million dollars of airport improvements, including a strategy to bring the Phoenix flights back once state or federal funding is secured.

Domestic Destinations

There are currently no scheduled destinations from SAD. Historically the airport connected to Phoenix and Tucson through Cochise Airlines and Frontier until 1975, and the 2025 service reached Phoenix only. Today's arrivals are private, corporate, charter, and air tour flights, which is why our chauffeurs plan around tail numbers and operator schedules, since there is no published timetable to follow.

Terminal Information

SAD has a single, compact terminal on the north side of the field with a passenger lounge, restrooms, and the airport administration office. There is no TSA checkpoint, so passengers on private flights walk from the lobby to the aircraft in minutes. The airfield itself is open 24 hours a day, while the terminal is staffed Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. The fixed base operator, Spalsbury Aviation, provides full service and self service fuel, line service, crew cars, rental cars, and catering from the same building.

Passenger Traffic

The airport logged just over 11,000 aircraft operations in 2025, down from over 14,000 the year before, according to the city's runway operations report. Airport management does not publish individual passenger counts for private flights. During the nine months of airline service in 2025, the twice daily Caravan carried business travelers, students, and families to Phoenix, where they could connect to over 120 domestic and 25 international cities.

Parking Overview

Parking at Safford Regional Airport is free. The paved lot sits directly in front of the terminal, with overnight and long term parking permitted for pilots and passengers. Aircraft parking is available through the FBO in hangars and on tie downs. Because the lot is small and unstaffed overnight, many corporate travelers prefer to leave the car at home and let a chauffeur handle both ends of the trip.

Pick Up and Drop Off Guidance

The terminal entrance is on Aviation Way, reached from US 70 by turning onto Airport Road east of Safford. Our chauffeur parks in the terminal lot and meets you inside the lobby or, for private aircraft, walks to the ramp gate as you deplane. For departures, give us your scheduled wheels up time and we will have you at the FBO 30 to 45 minutes ahead, which is plenty of time for a field with no security screening.

Ground Transportation Options

Ground transportation at SAD is thin. The FBO keeps a small number of rental cars and crew cars that must be reserved ahead. Taxi companies in Safford are few, rideshare coverage is sporadic, and there is no public bus route to the terminal. A pre booked chauffeur is the only option that guarantees a vehicle at the curb at a fixed time, especially for evening or weekend arrivals.

Tips for Arriving Passengers

  • Share your tail number or operator name when you book so we can monitor the flight
  • Carry a light jacket in winter; the field sits above 3,000 feet and mornings are cold
  • Tell us if you need to stop for groceries in Safford before heading to a remote cabin
  • Keep your chauffeur's number saved before takeoff, since signal can fade near the mountains

Timing Your Chauffeur Pickup

For a private arrival, we stage the vehicle 15 minutes before your estimated landing. For a charter with several passengers, we ask the operator for the manifest and bring a vehicle with room for everyone's bags on the first trip.

A Note on Weather

Summer monsoon storms can close the approach for an hour at a time. Your chauffeur monitors the field and stays in position until you land.

Why a Pre Booked Chauffeur Beats Taxis and Rideshare at SAD?

At a small regional field, on demand transport fails in predictable ways. A taxi dispatched from Safford may take 20 minutes to arrive, rideshare apps often show no cars at all, and rental counters are closed when the terminal staff go home. A chauffeur booked in advance is already parked when you land, carries your luggage, drives a vehicle sized for your group, and charges a rate you approved before departure. For visitors heading to Morenci or Willcox, that reliability is the difference between making a site meeting and missing it.

Occasions That Keep Our SAD Chauffeurs Busy

Airport transfers are the core of our work at Safford, but the same chauffeurs and vehicles handle everything that follows. Corporate travelers use our SAD airport car service for daily site shuttles between hotels and the mine. Families book stretch limousines for weddings at valley ranches and graduation nights at Eastern Arizona College. Research teams hire Sprinter vans for the summit road. Larger groups arriving by charter rely on our Arizona airport charter bus service for athletic events, retreats, and conference shuttles.

  • Executive site visits to Morenci with a chauffeur on standby all day
  • Wedding and quinceañera transportation across Graham and Greenlee counties
  • Observatory and Discovery Park group outings with timed pickups
  • Hospital and medical appointment rides for patients flown in by air ambulance
  • Hunting, fishing, and camping transfers to Roper Lake and the Pinaleno high country

Plan on about 50 minutes via US 70 and US 191. Our chauffeurs know the mine check in procedures, so executives and contractors can go straight to their meeting after the ride.

Yes. The drive is roughly 165 miles and takes about three hours. We run direct transfers between SAD and both Phoenix Sky Harbor and Tucson International in sedans, SUVs, and Sprinter vans.
