What we offer

Hilo International (ITO) Airport Limo Service

Wedding parties, Merrie Monarch crowds, and corporate teams heading to Maunakea count on our Hilo International (ITO) Airport Limo Service for sedans, Sprinters, and coaches that seat up to 56 guests.

Stretch Limo Service to and from Hilo International (ITO) Airport

Touching down on the windward side of the Big Island calls for a ride that matches the pace of Hilo: calm, punctual, and ready the moment your bags roll off the carousel. Union Limousine runs a Hilo International (ITO) Airport limo service built around live flight tracking, baggage claim greetings, and chauffeurs who know every turn between Kekuanaoa Street and Volcano Village. As part of our statewide Hawaii airport limo service, we handle arrivals, departures, and cross island transfers for families, honeymooners, wedding parties, and business travelers throughout East Hawaii.

Why Travelers Choose Our ITO Airport Limo in Hilo?

Hilo is a small, friendly airport, yet late evening flights and rainy afternoons can leave the curb short on taxis and rideshare drivers. A reserved chauffeur removes that uncertainty. Every booking with Union Limousine includes a confirmed vehicle, a named driver, and a fare you approve before you fly.

  • Flight monitoring on every Southwest, Alaska Airlines, and Hawaiian Airlines arrival, with pickup times adjusted for early or late landings
  • Meet and greet at baggage claim with a name sign and help carrying luggage to the car
  • Fixed, all inclusive quotes with no surge pricing during Merrie Monarch week or holiday travel
  • Island chauffeurs comfortable on Saddle Road, Highway 11 to the volcano, and the winding Hamakua Coast
  • Spotless, climate controlled vehicles with room for golf bags, snorkel gear, and coolers

Popular Routes From Hilo Airport

Most rides start with a short trip into town. The airport sits about two miles east of downtown Hilo, so guests reach Banyan Drive hotels, Liliuokalani Gardens, Coconut Island, the Hilo Farmers Market, and the University of Hawaii at Hilo within minutes. Longer journeys are where a private chauffeur pays off, especially after a long flight from the mainland.

Volcano and Puna District Transfers

Hawaii Volcanoes National Park lies roughly 30 miles southwest along Highway 11, about a 45 minute drive past Keaau and Mountain View. We take guests to lodges and rentals in Volcano Village, and chauffeurs can plan stops around the current activity at Kilauea so visitors make the most of an evening glow viewing. We also serve Pahoa, Hawaiian Paradise Park, and the Kapoho coastline.

Hamakua Coast, Waimea, and Kona Side Trips

North of town, the Hamakua Coast leads to Akaka Falls, Honokaa, and the Waipio Valley lookout before climbing into ranch country at Waimea. Guests staying at Waikoloa, Mauna Lani, or Kailua Kona can cross the island on the Daniel K. Inouye Highway in roughly two hours. For multi stop island touring beyond the airport, our Hawaii limo service covers resort days, sunset dinners, and private sightseeing.

Interisland Connections

Plenty of visitors split a trip between the Big Island and Maui. When your itinerary continues to the Valley Isle, reserve our Kahului (OGG) airport limo so a chauffeur is waiting on the other side of the short hop.

History and Importance

Work on a landing field at Waiakea began in July 1925, and the site grew quickly through the 1930s with federal relief funding. The General Lyman Field history kept by the Hawaii Department of Transportation traces how the territory renamed the airport in April 1943 to honor Brigadier General Albert Kualii Brickwood Lyman, the first U.S. general of Hawaiian ancestry. The field returned to civilian use after World War II, gained a new passenger terminal in 1953, and took the name Hilo International Airport in 1989, with the main building still named for General Lyman. Today its 9,800 foot primary runway makes it one of two major gateways on Hawaii Island, serving the windward half alongside Kona on the leeward coast.

Airlines Operating at ITO

Scheduled service comes from Hawaiian Airlines and Alaska Airlines, now flying under one parent company, plus Southwest Airlines. Commuter carriers and helicopter tour operators also use the field, giving visitors flightseeing options over the volcano.

Domestic Destinations

  • Honolulu (HNL): the busiest route, with frequent daily departures
  • Kahului, Maui (OGG): daily nonstop service
  • Las Vegas (LAS): Southwest nonstop launched August 6, 2026, restoring mainland service to Hilo for the first time since early 2023

Terminal Information

The General Lyman Terminal handles airline passengers on a single, easy to walk level with open air corridors, gate lounges, and baggage claim just steps from the curb. A separate commuter terminal serves smaller carriers. Rental car counters sit across the roadway from baggage claim.

Passenger Traffic

ITO handles well over one million passengers a year, with interisland flights to Honolulu making up the vast majority of departures. Crowds peak around spring festival season and winter holidays.

Parking Overview

Public lots sit directly in front of the terminal for short visits and longer stays. A streamlined entry and exit system rolled out at Hilo and Kona in January 2026, and a cell phone waiting lot lets drivers wait for arriving friends without circling.

Pick Up and Drop Off Guidance

Departing guests are dropped at the terminal curb close to airline check in. Rideshare pickups follow posted zones, while permitted prearranged operators such as our chauffeurs meet passengers inside at baggage claim and walk them to the vehicle.

Ground Transportation Options

Choices include rental cars, metered taxis at the curb, app based rideshare, hotel shuttles for some properties, and prearranged ground transportation. Public bus coverage near the terminal is limited, so most visitors rely on a car or private ride.

Tips for Arriving Passengers

  • Pack a light rain jacket; Hilo is one of the wettest cities in the country
  • Share your flight number when booking so pickup timing updates automatically
  • Expect cooler temperatures if your route climbs Saddle Road or heads to Volcano
  • Leave fresh fruit and plants out of checked bags on departure; mainland flights include an agricultural inspection

Why a Pre Booked Chauffeur Is Often More Convenient?

Taxi lines and rideshare availability thin out after the last interisland arrivals, and drivers may decline long runs to Kona or Volcano. A pre booked chauffeur is already tracking your flight, waits through delays, quotes the full fare upfront, and drives a vehicle sized to your group and luggage.

Accessibility Note

Let us know about mobility needs, child seats, or extra luggage when reserving so the right vehicle is assigned.
