What we offer

Montauk Suffolk County (MTP) Airport Charter Bus Service

Land at Montauk Suffolk County (MTP) Airport and step onto a coach that already knows your flight. Charter coaches and vans take wedding parties, surf trips, and retreats from New York, NY to Montauk.

Charter Bus Rental Service to and from Montauk Suffolk County (MTP) Airport

Montauk Airport sits at the far eastern tip of Long Island, roughly 120 road miles from Midtown Manhattan, and moving a group between the two takes planning. Union Limousine runs charter bus rental for Montauk Suffolk County (MTP) Airport with coaches that depart from New York, NY, collect passengers in Queens or Brooklyn, and ride out the Long Island Expressway and Route 27 to East Lake Drive. Our New York airport charter bus service keeps every seat, bag, cooler, and surfboard together for the whole trip, whether the group is meeting a private aircraft, a summer helicopter transfer, or a fishing boat at Lake Montauk.

Montauk has no scheduled airline, no terminal shuttle, and a taxi supply that thins out fast on summer weekends. A prebooked coach removes that gamble. We confirm the vehicle, the chauffeur, the meeting point beside the airport office, and the return timing before anyone leaves the city, and we track the inbound aircraft so the bus is idling nowhere and waiting exactly where it should be.

Charter Bus Rental Fleet for Montauk Airport Groups

Our fleet covers every group size that flies into or out of Montauk, from a three person executive party to a full coach for a wedding weekend or a company retreat. Union Limousine matches each vehicle below to the trips we see most often on the East End.

Sedans (Up to 3 Passengers)

A chauffeured sedan suits a pilot and one guest, a pair of executives heading to a Montauk board dinner, or a couple flying in for an anniversary weekend at a Ditch Plains inn. Luggage for three rides comfortably in the trunk.

SUVs (Up to 6 Passengers)

Our SUV handles a family with golf bags, a small striped bass charter crew with tackle boxes, or a real estate team touring listings from Amagansett to the Point. Rear cargo space swallows six suitcases with room for a cooler.

Stretch Limousines (Up to 20 Passengers)

The stretch limousine is the choice for bachelorette groups, milestone birthdays, and wedding parties who want the ride from the airport to the reception to feel like the first event of the weekend. Fiber optic lighting, a bar console, and privacy glass come standard.

Sprinter Vans (Up to 14 Passengers)

A Sprinter van is the workhorse of Montauk group travel. Surf trips, executive offsites, and photo crews all fit, and the tall cabin means boards and tripods ride upright without blocking the aisle. Captain chairs and USB power at every seat make the two and a half hour ride from the city productive.

Party Buses (Up to 30 Passengers)

A party bus turns the drive into part of the celebration. Perimeter seating, a sound system, LED ceilings, and a chauffeur who handles the Route 27 crawl let a brewery crawl, a rooftop wedding after party, or a Fourth of July house weekend start the moment the doors close.

Mini Charter Buses (Up to 35 Passengers)

Our mini charter bus carries a reunion, a lacrosse team, or a conference breakout group with underfloor luggage bays, reclining seats, and overhead storage. It fits the terminal lot on East Lake Drive far more easily than a full coach and still keeps the group in one vehicle.

Full Size Charter Buses (Up to 56 Passengers)

The full size charter bus moves an entire wedding guest list, a company anniversary outing, or a school marine biology trip in a single motorcoach with a restroom, climate control, WiFi, and a luggage hold sized for a week in Montauk.

Who Charters a Bus to and From MTP?

Wedding Weekends on the East End

Couples marrying at a Montauk oceanfront resort or a barn venue in East Hampton fly key guests into MTP and let the coach handle the rest. We run welcome dinner shuttles, ceremony transfers, and late night returns to rentals in Amagansett, so no guest drives after the toast.

Corporate Retreats and Board Offsites

Firms that fly leadership into Montauk by charter aircraft or helicopter book a coach to carry the wider team out from Manhattan the same morning. Everyone arrives at the same Bridgehampton estate or Montauk conference property within minutes of each other, and the chauffeur stays on site for the return.

Fishing, Surf, and Ferry Groups

Montauk Harbor sits across Lake Montauk from the airport. Charter fishing docks, surf breaks at Ditch Plains, and the seasonal Viking Fleet ferry to Block Island and New London all lie within a short drive, and the ferry dock on West Lake Drive is about ten minutes from the airport office by coach. A group can land, stow rods under the bus, and be on the water the same afternoon.

Private Aviation and Helicopter Transfers

Summer helicopter service between Manhattan heliports and MTP takes roughly forty minutes, and seaplane groups depart the New York Skyports Seaplane Base for the Hamptons every weekend from late spring to early fall. Our coaches meet the arriving flight, carry the group to the house or hotel, and return for the flight home with a printed manifest so nobody is left on the ramp.

Every Montauk airport charter we operate includes:

  • A commercially licensed chauffeur with East End route knowledge and a clean record
  • Flight tracking for private, charter, and helicopter arrivals so pickup timing adjusts automatically
  • Luggage bay loading and unloading by the chauffeur, including boards, rods, and golf bags
  • A single point of contact by phone and text from booking through the final drop
  • Written quotes with tolls, gratuity, and standby time stated up front

Montauk Suffolk County (MTP) Airport Information

Montauk Airport is a privately owned, public use airfield at 428 E Lake Dr, Montauk, NY 11954, reached by phone at +1 631 668 3738. The office is attended May through October from 8 a.m. to sunset, pilots announce on Unicom 122.70, and landing fees are paid at the main terminal building from June 1 through September 30 and collected automatically the rest of the year.

Brief History and Importance of the Airport

The airport was conceived in 1957 by Perry Duryea Jr., a Montauk lobster wholesaler and later New York State Assembly leader, who assembled about 27 acres beside Lake Montauk for a single runway, numbered 6/24. Duryea flew his own twin from Montauk to Albany for legislative sessions, and before runway lights were installed his family lit the threshold with car headlights. Robert King of Trans Caribbean Airways ran the field in the mid sixties and grew its charter arm, Air East pilot Lenny Dick managed it until 1994, and Helen Gil oversaw daily operations for the next 26 years as visitors ranging from a former president to a famous singer flew in for the beaches and the fishing. In March 2022 the airport switched to an automated camera based landing fee system. For anyone traveling to the far end of Suffolk County, MTP remains the only paved airfield east of East Hampton.

Airlines Operating From MTP

No scheduled airline serves Montauk. Traffic is general aviation: privately flown piston aircraft and turboprops, air charter operators, and seasonal helicopter shuttles from the city. The short runway rules out large jets, so groups arriving by airline typically land at a bigger field and finish the trip on our coach.

Domestic Destinations

Because service is on demand, destinations depend on the operator. Common summer links run to the Manhattan heliports, Westchester, Teterboro, Nantucket, Martha's Vineyard, and airfields around Boston and Providence. For groups too large for a light aircraft, we run the full trip by road from New York, NY and time the coach to any private flight that is bringing in the rest of the party.

Terminal Information

There is one small terminal building beside the runway with an office, restrooms, and a lounge area. There is no control tower, no security checkpoint, and no customs facility, so international arrivals must clear elsewhere first. The building doubles as the summer fee desk and serves as the meeting point for our chauffeurs year round.

Passenger Traffic

Montauk does not publish passenger totals, and volume follows the season. Operations peak from June through Labor Day when the harbor, the surf breaks, and the summer rental market fill up, then drop to a handful of movements a day in winter. The practical effect for groups is that summer weekends demand a confirmed pickup plan and shoulder season trips enjoy an empty lot and an easy departure.

Parking Overview

Parking at MTP is a small surface lot beside the terminal shared with aircraft tie down fees and short visits. There is no garage, no long term structure, and no reserved bus bay. For that reason, we stage the coach in the lot only during active loading and hold it nearby for longer waits, which keeps the lane clear for other arrivals.

Pick Up and Drop Off Guidance

Where the Coach Waits

East Lake Drive is a two lane road running north along the lake, with the outer beach entrance of Montauk County Park directly across from the airport at 527 East Lake Drive. Our chauffeur pulls into the terminal lot when the aircraft is on final approach and meets passengers at the building door, so nobody walks along the roadway.

Timing on Summer Weekends

From Friday afternoon through Sunday evening in July and August, Route 27 through Amagansett and the Montauk moors slows to a crawl. We build 45 extra minutes into eastbound departures from the city on those days and text the group a live arrival estimate.

Ground Transportation Options

By Road

Drive east on the Long Island Expressway to Exit 70, south on County Road 111, then east on Sunrise Highway and Montauk Highway to the East Lake Drive split. A coach from Midtown covers the trip in about two and a half to three hours outside of peak traffic.

By Rail

The Long Island Rail Road Montauk Branch ends at Montauk station roughly four miles from the airport. Groups splitting between train and coach often meet at the station, which is a five minute ride from the airport office.

Taxis and Local Shuttles

A few local taxi companies serve the hamlet, and the Town of East Hampton runs an on demand shared ride that reaches Montauk Point. Neither can seat a group of twelve or twenty together, and rideshare cars are scarce beyond the village center.

Tips for Arriving Passengers

Before Wheels Down

Send us the tail number or the operator's flight reference so we can watch the aircraft. Confirm how many bags, boards, or rod tubes are coming, since that determines whether a Sprinter or a mini coach fits the load.

After Landing

Walk to the terminal building, where the chauffeur will be holding a sign with the group name. Cell signal is decent on the ramp but drops along parts of East Lake Drive, so exchange chauffeur numbers before the flight.

Peak Weekend Note

Fog rolls into Montauk on summer mornings and can hold helicopters at the city end for an hour or more. Our dispatch adjusts the coach automatically and never charges standby for weather delays we can see coming.

Why a Prebooked Chauffeur Beats Taxis and Rideshare at MTP?

A group of fourteen landing at a small private field with two taxis in the lot has a problem that an app cannot solve. Union Limousine confirms the exact vehicle, the chauffeur's name, and the meeting point in writing, tracks the flight, and carries the whole party in one cabin at a single agreed price. Luggage is loaded for you, tolls are included in the quote, and the return trip is already scheduled before the outbound flight lands.

Nearby Airports and East End Areas We Serve

Many groups pair MTP with a larger airport. We run charter buses from John F. Kennedy International Airport and LaGuardia Airport directly to Montauk, and our Long Island MacArthur Airport charter bus service covers commercial arrivals in Ronkonkoma that connect to a private flight out east. Our Skyports Seaplane Base charter bus page covers Manhattan departures for the Hamptons.

Beyond the airport, we serve Hampton Bays, the villages along Route 27, and every hamlet in Suffolk County with the same fleet. Groups touring the Montauk Point Lighthouse, the oldest lighthouse in New York State and a National Historic Landmark, should book tours of twenty or more in advance and expect a state parking fee across the road from the tower. Our Long Island chauffeur service and Suffolk Sprinter van service pages cover smaller parties, and Long Island car service covers point to point transfers anywhere on the island.

For individuals and couples using this airfield, our Montauk Airport car service, Montauk Airport limo service, and Montauk Airport Sprinter van rental pages list the right vehicle for each party size. Travelers arriving by sea can pair a coach with our Manhattan cruise terminal car service, and our New York airport chauffeur service handles executive transfers at every field in the region.

The drive from Midtown to East Lake Drive is roughly 120 miles and takes about two and a half to three hours outside peak traffic. Summer Friday afternoons can add an hour, so we schedule departures with that buffer built in.

Yes. East Lake Drive is a paved two lane road and the terminal lot accepts a 45 foot motorcoach for loading. We hold the bus outside the lot during long waits so aircraft traffic and other vehicles are never blocked.

No. MTP serves private aircraft, charter operators, and seasonal helicopter shuttles only. Groups arriving on commercial flights usually land at Islip, JFK, or LaGuardia and finish the trip on our coach.

The chauffeur stages a few minutes away and returns to the terminal lot as soon as tracking shows the aircraft on approach. Weather delays on helicopter flights are common in summer fog and are handled without a standby charge.

Sedans carry three, SUVs six, Sprinter vans fourteen, stretch limousines twenty, party buses thirty, mini coaches thirty five, and full size coaches fifty six. Larger groups can split across two vehicles that travel together.

No. The airport lot is small and reserved for active loading. For multi day trips the coach stays at a nearby staging location we arrange, and the chauffeur returns on schedule for each transfer.

Yes. Stops in East Hampton, Amagansett, Bridgehampton, or any village along Route 27 can be written into the itinerary at booking. Extra stops are quoted up front so the price does not change on the day.

We do. Helicopter shuttles from Manhattan land at MTP throughout the season, and our chauffeurs track the flight and wait at the terminal building. Send the operator reference and we handle the rest.

Six to eight weeks ahead is comfortable for most dates, and holiday weekends in July and August should be booked three months out. Coaches for the East End sell through quickly once summer schedules are set.

Yes. Full size and mini coaches have underfloor luggage bays that take boards, rod tubes, and coolers, and Sprinter vans stand tall enough for boards to ride upright inside. Let us know the count when booking.
