What we offer

Juneau International (JNU) Airport Limo Service

Group arrivals ride in Sprinter vans and charter buses with room for fish boxes and skis. Juneau International (JNU) Airport Limo Service covers downtown, Auke Bay, and Douglas Island at a fixed rate.

Stretch Limo Service to and from Juneau International (JNU) Airport

Juneau sits on a strip of coastline with no highway connecting it to the rest of Alaska, so nearly everyone who reaches the capital steps off a plane at JNU. Our Juneau International (JNU) Airport Limo Service meets those arrivals with a chauffeur who already knows your flight number, your terminal exit, and the quickest route down Glacier Highway to wherever you are staying. As part of our Alaska airport limo service, the JNU program covers legislators flying in for session, cruise passengers beginning an Inside Passage voyage, fishing parties bound for Auke Bay, and families coming home to the Mendenhall Valley.

Union Limousine built this service around the realities of Southeast Alaska travel: weather holds in Seattle, late evening Alaska Airlines arrivals, oversized gear, and a city where taxis thin out quickly once the last jet lands. Reserve once, and we take care of everything from the carousel to your front door.

Why Travelers Across Alaska Choose Our JNU Airport Limo?

Union Limousine has operated chauffeured airport transfers since 1997, and the Juneau program applies the same dispatch discipline to a much smaller airport with far less predictable weather. Here is what every JNU reservation includes:

  • Live monitoring of every Alaska Airlines and Delta arrival, with pickup times adjusted automatically when Seattle fog delays the inbound jet
  • Meet and greet inside the terminal beside baggage claim, with a name sign and help loading luggage
  • Chauffeurs who drive Egan Drive, Glacier Highway, and the North Douglas Highway in every season and every kind of rain
  • Flat, all inclusive quotes confirmed in writing before you fly
  • 24 hour dispatch across Alaska, AK, covering the earliest 5:00 AM departures and the final arrivals after 10:00 PM

Capital City Arrivals Handled Properly

Our chauffeurs stage in the cell phone wait lot off Shell Simmons Drive until your bags appear on the belt, then pull to the curb the moment you call or text. Travelers who prefer a lower profile vehicle can request our JNU airport car service sedans, which run on the same reservation, tracking, and billing system as our limousines.

One Pricing Standard for Every Alaska Route

Every quote from our limo service in Alaska follows the same structure, so a JNU transfer costs exactly what you were told, including fuel, airport fees, and gratuity. Rates arrive by email with the chauffeur's name, vehicle description, and plate number sent before your departure flight boards.

Our Juneau Airport Fleet

We match the vehicle to the group and the gear. Each vehicle is detailed before every JNU pickup, and all carry commercial insurance that exceeds Alaska state minimums.

Where We Take You from Juneau International Airport?

Juneau Neighborhoods and Landmarks

JNU sits about nine miles northwest of downtown in the Mendenhall Valley, and most transfers follow Egan Drive into the city center. We deliver guests to the Alaska State Capitol, Centennial Hall, the Goldbelt Tram base on South Franklin Street, and the hotels along the waterfront. Visitors who want a cultural stop before check in can be dropped at the Alaska State Museum in the APK Building on Whittier Street. Other frequent destinations include Douglas Island, Lemon Creek, Auke Bay, Thane Road, and the lodges and trailheads near Mendenhall Glacier.

Cruise Docks, Ferries, and Connecting Airports

Summer brings the busiest JNU days of the year, with ships docking downtown from late April through early October. Our Juneau cruise terminal car service links the airport with the Franklin Dock, the Cruise Ship Terminal, and the AJ Dock, and we also run connections to the Auke Bay terminal for Alaska Marine Highway sailings. Statewide, we coordinate pickups at Anchorage (ANC), Fairbanks (FAI), Ketchikan (KTN), Sitka (SIT), Gustavus (GST), Haines (HNS), Skagway (SGY), Petersburg (PSG), Yakutat (YAK), and Wrangell (WRG), which makes it simple to book both ends of an in state itinerary with one call.

Popular JNU Transfer Routes

  • JNU to downtown Juneau hotels and the State Capitol: about 20 minutes
  • JNU to the Auke Bay ferry terminal: about 10 minutes
  • JNU to Douglas Island and the Treadwell Historic Trail: about 25 minutes
  • JNU to Eaglecrest Ski Area on North Douglas: about 35 minutes
  • JNU to the Shrine of St. Therese on Glacier Highway: about 25 minutes

Occasions We Serve Around JNU

Corporate and Legislative Session Travel

From January through May, the Alaska Legislature draws lawmakers, lobbyists, agency staff, and journalists through JNU every week. Union Limousine holds recurring reservations for session travelers, bills transfers to a single corporate account, and keeps chauffeurs on standby for late votes that push departures to the last flight of the night.

Weddings, Tours, and Group Outings

Wedding guests flying in from Anchorage or Seattle can be gathered at the terminal and delivered together to venues at Auke Bay, the Baranof, or a private lodge on Douglas Island. Tour operators and cruise groups often book our Alaska airport Sprinter van service for luggage heavy transfers, then add a charter bus for the Mendenhall Glacier excursion the next morning.

Juneau International Airport: What Arriving Passengers Should Know

History and Role in Southeast Alaska

Aviation came to the Mendenhall wetlands in the 1930s, when Pacific Alaska Airways laid out a gravel strip for mail and passenger flights. The Army took over the field in 1942, paved the runway, and built a control tower during the war years. The first passenger terminal opened in 1948, the airport passed to city ownership in 1953, and the runway was lengthened in 1961 so jets could reach the capital. A full parallel taxiway followed in 1989, runway safety areas were expanded in 2009, and a staged terminal rebuild has modernized the building ever since. Today JNU is classed as a Regional Center Airport in the Alaska Airport System Plan, and with no road out of town it serves as the only year round gateway to the capital for anyone not traveling by sea.

Airlines and Destinations

Alaska Airlines is the anchor carrier at JNU, flying multiple daily Boeing 737 services to Seattle and Anchorage along with the Southeast milk run stops. Delta Air Lines adds seasonal summer flights to Seattle. Regional lift comes from Alaska Seaplanes, Island Air Express, and Ward Air, while Coastal Helicopters, NorthStar Trekking, and Temsco Helicopters operate glacier tours from the airport. Air North has historically connected Juneau with Whitehorse, Yukon, which gives the airport its international designation.

Domestic Destinations from JNU

  • Seattle (SEA), Anchorage (ANC), Sitka (SIT), and Ketchikan (KTN) on Alaska Airlines jets
  • Petersburg (PSG), Wrangell (WRG), Yakutat (YAK), and Cordova (CDV) on the milk run
  • Gustavus (GST) for Glacier Bay, Haines (HNS), Skagway (SGY), and Hoonah (HNH) by jet or seaplane
  • Kake (KAE), Klawock (KLW), Angoon, Tenakee Springs, and other Southeast villages by seaplane

Terminal Layout and Amenities

JNU operates a single two level terminal. Ticket counters, baggage claim, rental car desks, the Travel Juneau visitor desk, and the Hummingbird Hollow gift shop are on the first floor, while the TSA checkpoint, the departure lounge gates, and the secure side Tailwind café and bar sit upstairs. A second Tailwind café serves the public side of the building. Free Wi Fi runs on the JNU Airport Guest network, pet relief areas sit beside the rental car lot and at the north end of the terminal, and Alaska Seaplanes offers chilled and frozen storage for fish boxes on the main level.

Passenger Traffic

JNU is a nonhub primary commercial service airport in the FAA system. Scheduled airlines board roughly 350,000 to 400,000 passengers a year, which means well over 700,000 travelers move through the terminal once arrivals and regional carrier flights are counted. Monthly reports from the airport show Alaska Airlines handling close to 20,000 boardings in a typical January and far higher totals in cruise season, when Delta's summer schedule adds thousands of seats to Seattle.

Parking at JNU

Short term and long term lots sit directly in front of the terminal, both run by Republic Parking Systems. Short term parking is free for the first 15 minutes, then $3.00 up to one hour, $2.00 for each additional hour, and $49.00 per day. Long term parking costs $5.00 for the first two hours, $1.00 per additional hour, and $16.00 per day. Neither lot offers overflow space, and drivers pay at the exit gate by tapping a card or at the kiosk across from the Alaska Airlines counter. A free cell phone wait lot beside Alaska Industrial Hardware on Shell Simmons Drive lets drivers stage until passengers call.

Curbside Pickup and Drop Off

The loading zone in front of the terminal is for active loading only, and the airport enforces a $100 fine for waiting along the curb. Departing passengers are dropped at the ticketing entrance, and arriving passengers exit beside baggage claim onto the same single curb. Our chauffeurs hold in the cell phone lot and reach the curb within minutes of your call, so you never stand outside in the rain with a fish box.

Ground Transportation Choices

Capital Transit, the borough's public bus system, stops at the airport for $2.00 a ride with limited room for luggage. Taxi companies include Capital Cab, EverGreen Taxi, Glacier Taxi Tours, and Juneau Taxi and Tours, and Lyft and Uber operate in Juneau with a small driver pool. Rental counters for Alamo, National, Enterprise, Avis, Budget, and Hertz are inside the terminal. Hotel shuttles run on fixed schedules and must be arranged with the property ahead of time.

Tips for Passengers Arriving at JNU

  • Pack a rain shell in your carry on, since Juneau records measurable precipitation on well over 200 days a year
  • Claim fish boxes and oversized items at the dedicated area beside the main carousel
  • Confirm ferry and seaplane connections before you leave the terminal, because weather can shift schedules within the hour
  • Check Alaska 511 for Egan Drive and Glacier Highway conditions during winter storms and for avalanche advisories on Thane Road
  • Save your chauffeur's number before boarding in Seattle so you can text on landing without searching for Wi Fi

Winter Arrivals

From November through March, expect icy approaches on Shell Simmons Drive and very short daylight. Our SUVs carry traction equipment, and chauffeurs build extra time into every winter pickup.

Quick Note

Cell reception inside the terminal is reliable, so a short text once your bags arrive is all it takes to bring your vehicle to the curb.

Why a Prebooked Chauffeur Beats Taxis and Rideshare at JNU?

Juneau's taxi fleet is small, and rideshare drivers grow scarce after 9:00 PM or when three ships and two jets unload at once. A prebooked chauffeur removes the gamble: your vehicle is assigned days ahead, the fare is fixed, the driver watches your flight, and there is room for every bag, cooler, and ski case. For groups, one Sprinter van replaces a scramble for several cabs, and corporate travelers receive a single receipt for expense reports.

Absolutely. The Auke Bay terminal is about ten minutes from the airport, and we time pickups around Alaska Marine Highway sailings so you reach the vehicle lane or walk on gate with margin to spare.

Between May and September, we recommend booking at least one week ahead for sedans and SUVs, and two to three weeks ahead for stretch limousines, Sprinter vans, and charter buses.

We do. Infant, convertible, and booster seats are available on request for sedans, SUVs, and Sprinter vans. Add the ages of your children when you book and the seats will be installed before pickup.
