What we offer

Valley International (HRL) Airport Limo Service

Wedding parties, Winter Texans, and corporate teams trust HRL Airport limo service for sedans through 56 seat coaches. Every reservation includes flight monitoring and a confirmed price before pickup.

Stretch Limo Service to and from Valley International (HRL) Airport

Flying into Harlingen should end with a chauffeur holding a name card at baggage claim, a cool cabin waiting at the curb, and a direct ride to wherever the Rio Grande Valley is taking you. Union Limousine delivers exactly that at Valley International Airport, the busiest commercial gateway in deep South Texas and the closest major airport to South Padre Island. Our Texas airport limo service covers every HRL arrival and departure with professional chauffeurs, late model vehicles, and a price you approve before the wheels turn.

Stepping off the morning Southwest flight from Houston Hobby, landing on the seasonal Delta service from Minneapolis, or catching an early American Eagle departure to Dallas Fort Worth, you get a vehicle scheduled around your itinerary. Reservations are confirmed in writing, chauffeurs are vetted and licensed, and every booking includes live flight monitoring so delays never leave you stranded on Heritage Way.

Why Travelers Across Texas Prebook an HRL Limo?

Valley International handles close to a million passengers a year, yet the curb outside the terminal is small and the taxi line thins out quickly after the last evening arrival. A prebooked chauffeur from Union Limousine removes that uncertainty. You know the vehicle, the driver, the price, and the pickup point before you board in Austin, Dallas, or Houston.

Flight Tracking and Meet and Greet Service

Our dispatch team watches every inbound flight to HRL in real time. If your United Express connection from Bush Intercontinental runs late, the chauffeur adjusts automatically and waits inside the terminal with a personalized sign. For departures, we calculate the pickup time using current road conditions on Interstate 69E and Expressway 83, then build in a comfortable buffer for security screening.

Transparent Pricing for Rio Grande Valley Transfers

Quotes are flat and all inclusive for point to point runs between HRL and Harlingen, San Benito, Brownsville, McAllen, Port Isabel, and South Padre Island. Hourly bookings cover longer itineraries such as site visits across Cameron County or a day of meetings in the Valley. Tolls, fuel, and standard waiting time are built into the figure you receive, so the amount on your confirmation matches the amount on your receipt.

Our Fleet for Valley International Airport

Every vehicle we assign to HRL is climate controlled, detailed before each run, and sized to the passenger count and luggage you tell us about at booking. Union Limousine keeps the following categories available for Valley International transfers:

  • Sedans (up to 3 passengers): the executive choice for a solo business traveler arriving on the Dallas Fort Worth flight, a couple heading to a beachfront condo, or a hospital consultant visiting Valley Baptist Medical Center.
  • SUVs (up to 6 passengers): room for a family with beach gear and strollers, a small sales delegation, or a foursome with golf bags bound for the courses around Harlingen and Rancho Viejo.
  • Stretch Limousines (up to 20 passengers): arrivals for a South Padre Island wedding party, quinceañera celebrations, bachelorette groups, and milestone anniversaries that call for a grand entrance.
  • Sprinter Vans (up to 14 passengers): corporate teams flying in together, church mission groups, medical residency cohorts, and extended families who want to ride as one unit with luggage secured in the rear.
  • Party Buses (up to 30 passengers): spring break crews landing on Sun Country, birthday celebrations rolling down Padre Boulevard, and Winter Texan social clubs organizing a night out.
  • Mini Charter Buses (up to 35 passengers): student groups from TSTC and UTRGV Harlingen, athletic teams with equipment, and conference delegations moving between the airport and area hotels.
  • Full Size Charter Buses (up to 56 passengers): conventions at the South Padre Island Convention Centre, church retreats, tour operators visiting the Iwo Jima Memorial and the Harlingen Arts and Heritage Museum, and large corporate incentive trips.

Destinations We Serve From HRL

Harlingen sits at the crossroads of the Valley where US 77 meets US 83, which puts most of Cameron and Hidalgo counties within an hour of the terminal. Our chauffeurs know the frontage roads, the hospital campuses, and the beach causeway traffic patterns that catch first time visitors off guard.

South Padre Island and the Laguna Madre Coast

The island is the number one request we receive from Valley International passengers. The drive runs roughly 45 to 55 minutes east along State Highway 100 through Los Fresnos and Port Isabel, then across the Queen Isabella Causeway. According to the South Padre Island visitors bureau, HRL offers the widest airline selection of the three airports serving the island, which is why so many beach travelers route through Harlingen. We deliver guests straight to resorts on Gulf Boulevard, condos on Laguna Boulevard, and the convention centre at the north end of town.

Harlingen, San Benito, and Greater Cameron County

Local transfers reach downtown Harlingen, the medical district around Valley Baptist, the Harlingen Convention Center, and residential neighborhoods in Treasure Hills and Palm Valley within fifteen minutes. Our Cameron County car service extends to Brownsville, Los Fresnos, La Feria, and the border crossings for travelers continuing into Matamoros.

Connecting With McAllen, Brownsville, and Other Texas Airports

Some itineraries land at HRL and depart from McAllen International or Brownsville South Padre Island International. We handle those cross airport transfers daily, and the same account can arrange a chauffeur at any hub covered by our limo service in Texas, from Houston and San Antonio to El Paso and Lubbock.

Services Built Around Every Kind of HRL Trip

Corporate, Medical, and Government Travel

Harlingen hosts a growing cluster of healthcare, logistics, and aerospace employers, and the airport itself is a major cargo hub for FedEx and DHL. Executives, physicians, and agency staff rely on our chauffeur service in Texas for discreet, punctual rides with onboard Wi Fi, bottled water, and chauffeurs who understand that a quiet cabin is sometimes the best amenity of all.

Weddings, Winter Texans, and Beach Getaways

Seasonal visitors arriving from Minneapolis between October and April often book a round trip at once so the return pickup is locked in before they settle into their winter home. Wedding parties flying in for ceremonies on the island or at venues in Harlingen can reserve a stretch limousine for the arrival and a Sprinter for the guests, all coordinated by one dispatcher.

Hourly Chauffeur Hire for Multi Stop Days

When the day involves a property tour, a hospital visit, lunch in downtown Harlingen, and a sunset stop at the coast, an hourly limo service keeps the same chauffeur and vehicle with you from the terminal to the last stop. Minimums are modest and the clock only starts when you do.

History and Regional Importance

The field opened in 1941 as a U.S. Army gunnery training school and became Harlingen Air Force Base after the war. The base closed in 1962, the City of Harlingen took title to the property, and civilian flights consolidated there after Hurricane Beulah damaged the old municipal airport in 1967. The facility was known as Harlingen Industrial Airport and later Harlingen Regional Airport before adopting its current name. A new passenger terminal opened in 1991, and the airport has operated debt free under a nine member board appointed by the mayor ever since.

With roughly 2,500 acres and a main runway of 9,400 feet, HRL is the largest airport in the Rio Grande Valley and the only one in the region with runways long enough for wide body freighters. Military training aircraft from bases across South Texas still account for about half of all movements, a living link to the airfield’s origins.

Airlines Operating From HRL and Nonstop Destinations

Five passenger carriers serve Harlingen today. Southwest Airlines, which celebrated 50 years at HRL in February 2025, carries close to 60 percent of local passengers with daily nonstops to Houston Hobby, Dallas Love Field, and Austin. American Eagle connects to Dallas Fort Worth, United Express flies to Houston Bush Intercontinental, and Delta and Sun Country both operate seasonal winter service to Minneapolis Saint Paul. Sun Country also runs seasonal nonstops to Cancún, giving the Valley a direct leisure link to the Mexican Caribbean.

Houston Hobby is the busiest route by a wide margin, followed by Dallas Fort Worth, Austin, Bush Intercontinental, Dallas Love Field, and Minneapolis. Those six markets open one stop connections to virtually every major city in North America.

Terminal Layout

All commercial flights use a single two level terminal with seven gates. Sun Country boards at Gate 1, Delta at Gate 2, American at Gate 4, Southwest at Gates 5 and 6, and United at Gate 7. Ticket counters sit on the ground level beside the lobby fountain, with the Tropics Cafe and a Paradies gift shop nearby. Starbucks and additional dining sit past security, and a VIA VIP Club lounge is available on the first floor. Wi Fi is free throughout the building.

Passenger Traffic

HRL set a record of roughly 977,000 total passengers in 2025, up from about 615,000 in 2018, with the FAA logging just under 40,000 aircraft operations for the year. Thanksgiving week and the Fourth of July are the busiest periods, when daily throughput can top 1,500 passengers.

Parking Overview

Two surface lots sit directly in front of the terminal. The close in lot was repaved and fitted with shade canopies as part of a $6.5 million improvement program, bringing it to roughly 800 covered and uncovered spaces, while the remote lot serves longer stays with a complimentary shuttle to the doors. Published daily rates have hovered around $15 for close in and $10 for remote parking, both lots carry 24 hour security, and the airport asks travelers to confirm current pricing on the official site before a long trip.

Pick Up and Drop Off Guidance

Departing passengers can be dropped at the curb directly outside the ticketing doors on the upper roadway. Arriving guests collect bags on the ground level, where our chauffeur waits at baggage claim holding a sign with the passenger name. Commercial vehicles stage in the designated ground transportation zone across the roadway from baggage claim, a short covered walk from the exit, so the car is at the door within a minute of your text.

Ground Transportation Options

Taxis queue outside baggage claim on a first come basis, rental counters for the major brands are inside the terminal, and several shuttle operators run shared vans to South Padre Island. Public transit is limited to Valley Metro Route 41, a flex route that stops at the airport on weekdays and Saturdays and requires an advance call for curbside pickup. Our HRL car service fills the gap for travelers who want a guaranteed vehicle at any hour, including the late Southwest arrivals and the early United departure.

Tips for Arriving Passengers

  • Allow at least two hours before domestic departures during holiday weeks, when the single checkpoint sees its heaviest lines.
  • Carry a REAL ID compliant license or passport, as federal enforcement has been in effect since May 2025.
  • Pack sun protection and water for summer arrivals; afternoon temperatures in Harlingen regularly exceed 95 degrees from June through September.
  • Confirm seasonal flight dates before booking a winter transfer, since Delta and Sun Country service runs only from autumn through spring.
  • Share your mobile number at booking so the chauffeur can text once the vehicle is positioned at the terminal.

Why a Prebooked Chauffeur Beats Taxis and Rideshare at HRL?

Rideshare coverage in the Valley thins considerably after dark, surge pricing spikes during spring break and holiday peaks, and taxis cannot be reserved in advance. A chauffeur reservation locks the rate, assigns a vehicle sized for your group, and guarantees a driver who has tracked your flight and will wait if it lands late. For a family with coolers and beach chairs, a wedding party in formal wear, or an executive with a presentation in Brownsville at nine, that certainty easily outweighs the modest difference in price.

Quick Reference for HRL Travelers

  • Distance to South Padre Island: about 40 miles, 45 to 55 minutes
  • Distance to Brownsville: about 25 miles, 30 minutes
