What we offer

Kalaupapa Airport (LUP) Airport Limo Service

Group pilgrimages, NPS partners and returning families get a smooth start in Hawaii. Our Kalaupapa Airport (LUP) airport limo service pairs sedans, SUVs and vans with commuter flights on both islands.

Stretch Limo Service to and from Kalaupapa Airport (LUP) Airport

Few flights in the islands carry the weight of a trip to Kalaupapa. The peninsula on the north shore of Molokai sits below some of the tallest sea cliffs on earth, and the small commuter planes that reach it leave from Honolulu and Hoolehua on tight schedules. Union Limousine plans the ground side of that journey through our Hawaii airport limo service, so a chauffeur meets you before departure and waits for you when the return flight touches down. We handle the drive, the timing and the bags, and you keep your attention on the visit itself.

Private Ground Travel Planned Around Your Kalaupapa Flight

Commuter flights into LUP run on small aircraft with strict weight limits and early check in windows. A missed connection can cost an entire visit, because permits and tour seats are issued for specific dates. Our dispatch team builds each ride backward from your departure time and adds a buffer for Honolulu traffic on the H1 and Nimitz Highway. Travelers who only need a single sedan can also browse our Kalaupapa car service page for simpler point to point bookings.

Who Books This Route With Us?

  • Families visiting relatives who still live in the settlement
  • Catholic pilgrims honoring Saint Damien and Saint Marianne Cope
  • Park partners, contractors and medical staff on rotation
  • Historians, filmmakers and researchers holding approved permits
  • Tour groups connecting to fly in visits on authorized dates

How Our LUP Transfers Work on Oahu and Molokai?

Vehicles cannot drive down to the settlement, and the peninsula has no public road link to the rest of Molokai. Our chauffeurs cover the gateway airports on both ends of your flight, which is where private transportation makes the biggest difference.

Honolulu Departures and Arrivals

Most visitors fly to LUP from the commuter terminal at Daniel K. Inouye International. Our Honolulu airport limo team picks you up at Waikiki hotels, Ko Olina resorts, Kailua homes or Kahala residences and drops you at the correct commuter curb. On your return, your chauffeur tracks the inbound flight and waits at the agreed meeting point.

Molokai Topside Connections

Some guests stay on topside Molokai before or after the visit. Our Molokai airport limo service connects Hoolehua with Kaunakakai, Kualapuu and the Kalaupapa Lookout in Palaau State Park, where the overlook gives a clear view of the peninsula far below.

Coverage Highlights for Peninsula Travelers

  • Hotel and residence pickups across Oahu before early commuter flights
  • Meet and greet service at Honolulu commuter gates after return flights
  • Hoolehua and Kaunakakai transfers on Molokai by advance request
  • Child seats, mobility support and extra luggage space on request
  • Flat quotes confirmed in writing before your travel date

Vehicle Capacity Guide

Executive Sedans: 1 to 3 Passengers

Sprinter Vans: 8 to 14 Passengers

Party Buses: 15 to 30 Passengers

Party buses serve reunions and festive evenings on Oahu once the travel portion of the trip is complete.

History and Importance of the Airport

The Kalaupapa Airport official site dates the start of operations to 1934, when Inter Island Airways landed small amphibian planes on a rough field. Wartime plans for a longer strip were shelved in December 1941, and postwar operators such as Andrew Flying Service and Cockett Airlines brought daily Beechcraft and Cessna flights. A $9.2 million upgrade finished in 1992. For the residents of the former Hansen's disease settlement, this runway became the link to family, mail, medicine and the wider world.

Airlines and Domestic Destinations

Southern Airways Express currently runs the scheduled commuter service at LUP on single engine Cessna Caravan aircraft. Nonstop routes reach two airports:

  • Daniel K. Inouye International (HNL) in Honolulu
  • Molokai Airport (MKK) in Hoolehua on topside Molokai

Small charter operators also land at the field. Schedules change often, so confirm your flight directly with the carrier before you book ground transportation.

Terminal Information

The terminal is a single small building beside the runway with no TSA checkpoint, no restaurants and no shops. Check in is quick, and the airport is one of the few places on the peninsula where cell service may reach your phone. Staff attendance runs on weekday daytime hours.

Passenger Traffic

LUP handles a handful of commuter flights a day, and the passenger count stays small by design. Census Bureau Kalawao County population figures place the resident count near 80, and visitor numbers are capped daily to protect the privacy of the remaining patient residents.

Parking Overview

There is no public parking lot for travelers, and visitors cannot bring cars to the peninsula. Anyone driving on Oahu or Molokai should park at HNL or MKK, which is why many guests prefer a chauffeur drop off at the departure airport.

Pick Up and Drop Off Guidance

At LUP itself, your sponsor or authorized tour operator meets you on arrival. At Honolulu, our chauffeurs use the commuter terminal curb for drop offs and the arrivals area for pickups. At Hoolehua, the meeting point sits outside the small terminal doors.

Ground Transportation Options

Taxis, rideshare and rental cars do not operate on the peninsula. Every visitor needs written permission from the Hawaii State Department of Health, arranged through a resident sponsor or an approved tour, and the latest rules appear on the Kalaupapa Department of Health updates page. Public tour access shifted several times in 2026, so check current availability early.

Tips for Arriving Passengers

  • Carry your permit and photo ID at all times on the peninsula
  • Pack water, sun protection and snacks, since no stores serve visitors
  • Ask permission before photographing any resident
  • Expect weight checks for you and your bags at commuter check in
  • Allow extra time for weather diversions on the north shore

Why a Prebooked Chauffeur Is Often More Convenient Than Taxis or Rideshare?

Commuter flights to LUP often leave early, and rideshare supply near the Honolulu commuter terminal can thin out at those hours. A reserved chauffeur arrives on a set schedule, knows the correct curb, and quotes a fixed fare. Union Limousine also adjusts pickup times when a return flight is diverted or delayed, which saves you from searching for a car at the last minute.

What Our Dispatch Team Monitors?

  • Live commuter flight status for HNL and MKK
  • Weather on the north shore of Molokai
  • Traffic on Oahu between your hotel and the airport

Statewide Coverage Across the Islands

Many visitors combine Kalaupapa with time on Maui, the Big Island or Kauai. Our limo service in Hawaii covers resort transfers, weddings, corporate events and dinners on every major island, using the same chauffeur standards you experience on the LUP route.
