What we offer

Chippewa County International (CIU) Airport Limo Service

Groups heading to Kewadin Casinos, Soo Locks boat tours, or Tahquamenon Falls board Sprinter vans, mini coaches, and full size buses at CIU with one driver, one invoice, and zero rental counter waits.

Stretch Limo Service to and from Chippewa County International (CIU) Airport

Flights into Kincheloe arrive on a tight daily schedule, and the terminal sits roughly fifteen miles south of Sault Ste. Marie with open farmland in every direction. Our Michigan airport limo service at Chippewa County International (CIU) Airport puts a chauffeur at the arrivals door before your Delta Connection flight touches down, with your name on a board and the vehicle already warmed up in the lot. Travelers across Michigan, MI count on Union Limousine for a quiet, planned ride that starts the moment the jet bridge opens.

Private Chauffeur Transfers at CIU for the Eastern Upper Peninsula

CIU is a small airport with big distances around it. The nearest hotel cluster is in Sault Ste. Marie, the Mackinac ferry docks in St. Ignace are an hour south, and the cabins of Paradise and Drummond Island are farther still. A prebooked chauffeur turns those miles into working time or rest time. We monitor the inbound flight number, adjust the pickup when Minneapolis or Detroit runs late, and keep a single fixed quote for the trip so there are no surprises when the meter would otherwise be running on snowy two lane roads.

Who Books CIU Airport Limo Service in Michigan, MI?

  • Executives flying in for meetings at the Kincheloe industrial park, Lake Superior State University, or War Memorial Hospital
  • Families with strollers and ski bags who want one vehicle and one driver from the terminal to a lakeside rental
  • Wedding parties bound for venues in Sault Ste. Marie, Pickford, and Cedarville who need a stretch limousine or Sprinter van on a schedule
  • Casino groups heading to Kewadin Sault, Kewadin St. Ignace, or Bay Mills Resort in Brimley
  • Anglers, snowmobilers, and hunters with oversized gear who prefer an SUV or van with a known luggage plan
  • Cross border visitors continuing to Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario over the International Bridge with passports in hand

Our limo service in Michigan covers the full state, so a traveler who lands at CIU on Monday and departs from Detroit Metro on Friday can book both legs with the same dispatcher and the same billing. Chauffeurs on the eastern Upper Peninsula routes drive these roads in every season and know where the lake effect bands sit on a given day.

Local Areas and Destinations We Serve From Kincheloe

Sault Ste. Marie is the first stop for most arrivals, with the Soo Locks viewing platform, the Tower of History, and the downtown hotels along Ashmun Street all within a half hour of the terminal. The airport sits just off the final stretch of Interstate 75, which the Federal Highway Administration route log lists as ending at the International Bridge in Sault Ste. Marie, so the drive north is a straight shot on a divided highway. South of the airport, we run regular transfers to the Mackinac Island ferry docks in St. Ignace, the Mackinac Bridge overlooks, and the resort properties along Lake Huron in Hessel and Les Cheneaux.

Westbound trips take guests to Tahquamenon Falls State Park, Whitefish Point and its shipwreck museum, Newberry, and the Grand Marais end of Pictured Rocks. For travelers continuing to Munising, the National Park Service directions page explains that a street address belongs in the itinerary because the park name alone will not route to a visitor center, and our dispatch team sets the drop point accordingly. Our CIU airport car service handles these long rural runs in sedans and SUVs with full tanks, winter tires, and a chauffeur who has already checked the road reports.

Our Fleet for CIU Airport Transfers

Every vehicle in the Kincheloe rotation is black, late model, and inspected before each dispatch. Capacities below reflect passengers with standard luggage; tell us about skis, fishing rods, or cases of equipment and we will size the vehicle up.

Airport Details at a Glance

  • Airport name: Chippewa County International Airport
  • Airport code: CIU
  • Address: 5315 W Airport Dr, Kincheloe, MI 49788, United States

  • Operator: Chippewa County Economic Development Corporation

History and Regional Importance

The airfield began life as Kincheloe Air Force Base, a Cold War installation whose long bomber runway still defines the property today. After the base closed in 1977, Chippewa County formed an economic development corporation to repurpose the land, and that body took over airport management in April 1987. A new commercial terminal opened in 2002, and the surrounding air and industrial park now holds dozens of buildings, hundreds of jobs, and a rail spur that connects to the Canadian National line. CIU is one of only twelve commercial service airports in Michigan and holds customs landing rights, which makes it the air gateway for the entire eastern Upper Peninsula and the Algoma district across the river.

Airlines Operating From CIU

Delta Connection, flown by SkyWest Airlines with regional jets, provides the year round service. SkyWest also launched seasonal United Express flights in May 2025, giving the region a summer link to a second hub. Schedules at a small airport shift with little notice, so our dispatchers confirm the live flight number on the day of travel.

Domestic Destinations

  • Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County (DTW): one daily round trip on Delta Connection
  • Minneapolis St. Paul International (MSP): one daily round trip on Delta Connection
  • Chicago O'Hare International (ORD): seasonal United Express service in the summer months

Terminal Information

CIU operates a single commercial terminal at 5315 W Airport Dr with the Delta counter, a TSA checkpoint, and gate seating under one roof, so walking distances are short. A separate general aviation terminal at 5019 W Airport Dr serves charter and corporate flights, including air taxi links to Mackinac Island and Beaver Island. The airport asks passengers to arrive ninety minutes to two hours before departure and to have checked bags at the counter at least forty five minutes ahead of the flight.

Passenger Traffic

Roughly 57,500 passengers passed through CIU in the twelve months ending July 2026, split almost evenly between the Minneapolis and Detroit routes. Traffic has grown steadily since the Minneapolis flight was added in late 2017, and the airport has reported record years on the strength of competitive fares and free parking.

Parking Overview

Parking at CIU is free in both the short term and long term lots directly in front of the terminal. The long term lot was paved in recent years, and drivers are asked to follow posted signs during winter plowing. Even with free parking, many travelers prefer a chauffeur so they avoid leaving a vehicle under heavy lake effect snow for a week.

Pick Up and Drop Off Guidance

The terminal curb is a single lane directly outside the main doors, and there are no commercial vehicle fees or staging lots to deal with. For departures, your chauffeur pulls up to the curb and helps unload at the entrance. For arrivals, the chauffeur parks in the free lot and walks in to meet you.

Meet and Greet Protocol

Because the arrivals hall is compact, your chauffeur waits just inside the terminal doors near baggage claim with a name board. Once your bags are in hand, the vehicle is a short walk away and already running in cold weather.

If Your Flight Diverts

Fog and snow occasionally send CIU flights to Pellston or back to the hub. We hold the reservation, reposition the vehicle, and reach you by text with the new plan.

Quick Contact on Arrival

Your confirmation carries the chauffeur's direct number, so a quick call from the taxiway settles the meeting point before you deplane.

Ground Transportation Options

Options at CIU are limited. The airport lists a single rental car counter and a handful of local shuttle operators on its car rental and taxi page, and there is no scheduled public bus to the terminal. Rideshare coverage in Chippewa County is thin, especially for the late evening Detroit arrival. Our Michigan chauffeur service fills that gap with a confirmed vehicle at a confirmed time.

Tips for Arriving Passengers

  • Pack a coat in your carry on from November through April; the walk from the terminal to any vehicle is outdoors
  • Carry a passport if your plans include Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario; the International Bridge crossing requires one
  • Cell coverage drops along stretches of M 28 and M 123, so share your itinerary with your chauffeur before leaving the terminal
  • Book Mackinac Island ferries in advance in peak summer and tell us the sailing time so the drop at St. Ignace is early
  • Evening arrivals land after most Sault restaurants close; ask us for a hotel with late room service

Prebooked Chauffeur Service Compared With Taxis and Rideshare at CIU

A taxi at a rural airport depends on whether a driver happens to be available when the flight lands, and rideshare apps often show no cars at all in Kincheloe. A prebooked chauffeur is dispatched against your flight number, tracks delays, and waits inside the terminal with no surge pricing and no meter. Your fare is locked when you book, child seats are installed in advance, and the same driver handles the return. For groups, our Sprinter van airport service replaces two or three uncertain taxi trips with one scheduled vehicle. Union Limousine runs this model at airports across Michigan, MI, and the small terminal at CIU is where it pays off most.
