What we offer

Willow Run (YIP) Airport Limo Service

Yankee Air Museum visitors, Ann Arbor game weekends, and Detroit business trips all begin smoothly with Willow Run (YIP) Airport Limo Service, run by licensed chauffeurs and our 24 hour dispatch team.

Stretch Limo Service to and from Willow Run (YIP) Airport

Willow Run Airport sits between Ypsilanti and Belleville, a short hop off Interstate 94 and roughly 30 miles west of downtown Detroit. The field has no airline counters, no baggage carousels and no taxi line, which is exactly why travelers stepping into its FBO lobbies prebook a chauffeur. Our Michigan airport limo service covers every ramp at YIP, with licensed drivers who track your tail number, wait at the lobby door and carry you anywhere across Michigan, MI in a late model sedan, SUV, Sprinter van or coach.

Chauffeured Rides Built Around Willow Run Private Aviation

YIP is a cargo, corporate and general aviation field, so the people who need ground transportation here look a little different from the crowds at a commercial hub. Executives arriving on company jets, sports teams on charter flights, flight crews rotating through Kalitta Air and USA Jet, engineers visiting the American Center for Mobility test track and families heading to the Yankee Air Museum all pass through the same handful of FBO doors. We built this limo service around those arrivals, with scheduling that follows the actual wheels down time of your aircraft, since no published timetable exists here.

  • Tail number and charter flight tracking from departure to touchdown
  • Chauffeur waiting inside the FBO lobby with a name board
  • Flat rate quotes to Ann Arbor, Detroit, Dearborn, Novi and beyond
  • Child seats, luggage trailers and wheelchair accessible vehicles on request
  • Corporate accounts with monthly invoicing and dedicated dispatch contacts

Where We Pick Up at YIP?

Private flights into Willow Run clear through the fixed base operators on the east side of the field, chiefly Avflight Willow Run East and Odyssey Aviation. Your chauffeur parks in the FBO visitor lot, checks in with the front desk and greets you as you walk off the ramp. If your flight is handled at a cargo or corporate hangar on the south or west ramps, we coordinate the exact gate with your flight department ahead of time. For simple point to point transfers, our Willow Run airport car service offers the same chauffeurs at sedan pricing.

Popular Routes from Willow Run Airport

Most passengers who touch down at YIP are headed somewhere within an hour of the airfield. Our limo service in Michigan runs these corridors every week:

  • Ann Arbor and the University of Michigan campus, about 20 minutes west on Interstate 94 or US 23
  • Downtown Detroit, Midtown, the Renaissance Center and Huntington Place, roughly 35 to 45 minutes east
  • Dearborn, The Henry Ford and Ford Motor Company world headquarters, about 25 minutes
  • Novi, Northville and the Twelve Oaks corridor via Interstate 275
  • Canton, Plymouth and Livonia business parks along Michigan Avenue and Ford Road
  • Connections to Detroit Metropolitan Airport (DTW) for travelers switching to a commercial flight

Local Areas and Venues We Serve Around YIP

The airport straddles Van Buren Township and Ypsilanti Township in Washtenaw and Wayne counties, with the historic Depot Town district and Eastern Michigan University only minutes north. Belleville Lake and its lakefront restaurants sit just south of the runways. Superior Township and Saline farmland stretch west toward Ann Arbor, where Michigan Stadium draws six figure crowds on autumn Saturdays. Head east and you reach the Detroit cultural district, home to Wayne State University, the Detroit Institute of Arts and Little Caesars Arena. Our Michigan car service covers all of these destinations and the suburbs in between, including Canton, Plymouth, Dearborn, Livonia, Taylor and Romulus.

Our Fleet for Willow Run Airport Transfers

Every vehicle is late model, detailed before each trip and driven by a chauffeur who knows the FBO entrances at YIP. Pick the size that fits your party and luggage.

Executive sedans suit solo business travelers and couples flying in on a light jet. Ideal for Ann Arbor hotel runs, Detroit office meetings and quiet evening transfers.

History and Regional Importance

Henry Ford bought the farmland here in 1931, and a decade later the company broke ground on the Willow Run Bomber Plant, an Albert Kahn designed factory with about 3.5 million square feet of floor space. By 1944 a B24 Liberator rolled off the line roughly every hour, and the plant turned out thousands of complete bombers plus knock down kits for other assembly sites before production ended in May 1945. Wartime photographs of those Liberator bombers at Willow Run are preserved by the Library of Congress. After the war the University of Michigan bought the airport for a dollar and ran it as a research field, and Willow Run served as the primary passenger airport for the Detroit region until the airlines moved to Metro Airport, with the last scheduled flights departing in 1966. Today the field is one of the leading air cargo gateways in the United States, home to Kalitta Air headquarters, USA Jet Airlines, a continuously staffed FAA control tower and a US Customs port of entry.

Airlines Operating from YIP

No major passenger airline schedules flights at Willow Run. The carriers you will see on the ramps are cargo and charter operators: Kalitta Air and Kalitta Charters II, USA Jet Airlines, Ameristar Jet Charter and National Airlines, along with fractional and private jet operators such as NetJets and Flexjet. Sports teams, corporate shuttles and medical flights round out the traffic.

Domestic Destinations

Because YIP traffic is charter and cargo based, destinations change daily. Frequent charter and freight routes include Laredo and Brownsville in Texas, Niagara Falls, Kansas City, Nashville, Chicago area fields and Ann Arbor Municipal for short positioning hops. Travelers who need a scheduled domestic flight connect at Detroit Metropolitan Airport, about 15 miles east on Interstate 94.

Terminal Information

There is no public airline terminal at Willow Run. Passengers use the private FBO terminals, where lobbies offer lounges, conference rooms, catering and crew rest areas. Avflight Willow Run East operates a renovated terminal with an indoor executive parking garage on the east side, and Odyssey Aviation runs a second full service facility nearby. Customs clearance for international arrivals happens at marked ramp locations on the east, south and west sides of the field.

Passenger Traffic

Willow Run records well over 50,000 aircraft movements in a typical year, the majority of them general aviation and air taxi flights, and the airport handles upward of 200 million pounds of cargo annually. Passenger volumes are concentrated in corporate jets, sports charters and crew transport, which means arrivals cluster around early morning and late evening hours.

Parking Overview

YIP has no public paid parking decks or shuttle lots of the kind found at commercial airports. Each FBO maintains its own visitor lot, and some offer heated indoor garages for executive vehicles on a space available basis. Our chauffeurs use these FBO lots during pickups, so you never need to arrange or pay for a space of your own.

Pick Up and Drop Off Guidance

Give Union Limousine your tail number, FBO and expected arrival window when you book. Your chauffeur will check in with the FBO front desk, confirm your aircraft on approach and meet you in the lobby. For departures, we drop you at the FBO entrance of your choice and can wait planeside if your flight department has arranged ramp access. Early morning cargo crew pickups and overnight corporate arrivals are handled with the same care as daytime flights.

Ground Transportation Options

The FBO services at Willow Run include rental car arrangements, courtesy vehicles for crews and catering, but there is no taxi stand, rail link or public bus stop at the gate. Rideshare drivers rarely stage near the field and must be summoned from Ypsilanti or Belleville, adding 15 to 25 minutes of wait time. A prebooked chauffeur is the only ground option that is already on the property when your wheels touch the runway.

Tips for Arriving Passengers

Before You Depart for YIP

  • Confirm which FBO your pilot or charter company plans to use, since the east, south and west ramps are a few minutes apart by road
  • Send us your tail number so dispatch can watch the flight in real time
  • International arrivals should allow extra time for customs processing at the designated ramp
  • Interstate 94 construction near Belleville Road can slow access, so share your onward address and we will route around it

Winter Travel Note

Lake effect snow and freezing rain reach Washtenaw County from November through March. Our SUVs and Sprinter vans are equipped for winter roads, and chauffeurs monitor runway deicing delays so your pickup time shifts with your aircraft.

Customs Clearance Note

US Customs at Willow Run operates 24 hours Monday through Friday and by advance request on weekends. If you are clearing inbound from Canada or overseas, tell us at booking so your chauffeur waits at the correct ramp and factors in processing time.

Why a Prebooked Chauffeur Beats Taxis and Rideshare at YIP?

Taxis do not queue at a general aviation airport, and app based drivers treat Willow Run as a long dead head from Ann Arbor or Detroit, which means cancellations and surge pricing are common. A reserved chauffeur removes all of that uncertainty. Your vehicle is already parked at the FBO, the driver knows which door you will exit, the fare is fixed in advance and the car is sized for your luggage and group. For corporate travelers, the ride also becomes a quiet workspace with chargers and privacy glass before the first meeting of the day.

Your chauffeur waits inside the lobby of the FBO your flight is using, usually Avflight Willow Run East or Odyssey Aviation, holding a name board. Planeside pickup is possible when your flight department arranges ramp access in advance.

No. Willow Run serves cargo, corporate, charter and general aviation only. Scheduled airline service in the area operates from Detroit Metropolitan Airport, about 15 miles east, and we run transfers between the two fields daily.

The trip to downtown Ann Arbor or the University of Michigan campus takes about 20 to 25 minutes in normal traffic via Interstate 94 and US 23. Football Saturdays and commencement weekends can add time, so we build in a buffer on those dates.

Yes. Private and fractional jet passengers are the core of our Willow Run business. We track the tail number, coordinate with the FBO desk and stage the vehicle in the visitor lot before the aircraft lands.

Pricing is a flat rate based on vehicle class and destination, quoted in writing before the trip. A sedan to downtown Detroit is the most economical option, with SUVs, Sprinter vans and stretch limousines priced by capacity. There are no surge charges or hidden fees.

We do. Dispatch monitors your aircraft by tail number from departure to touchdown, so early arrivals, weather holds and diversions all adjust your pickup time automatically without any calls from you.

A Mercedes Sprinter van seats up to 14 passengers with luggage and is the best fit for a 12 person group. For larger parties we provide mini coaches for up to 35 and full size charter buses for up to 56 passengers.

Absolutely. The Yankee Air Museum hosts its airshow weekends right at Willow Run, and we provide sedans, party buses and coaches for groups traveling from Ann Arbor, Detroit and across southeast Michigan, with drop off at the designated spectator entrance.

Twenty four hours of notice is ideal for sedans and SUVs, and 48 to 72 hours for Sprinter vans, stretch limousines and coaches. Same day requests are often possible, so call dispatch if your charter was arranged at short notice.

Yes. We cover Detroit Metropolitan Airport, Ann Arbor Municipal Airport, Oakland County International and Coleman A. Young Municipal in Detroit, so you can mix commercial and private legs on one itinerary with a single transportation provider.
