What we offer

Marquette Sawyer Regional (MQT) Airport Limo Service

Teams, wedding parties and NMU visitors ride together in Sprinter vans and coaches from Marquette Sawyer Regional (MQT) Airport, with luggage bays for hockey bags, winter gear and conference displays.

Stretch Limo Service to and from Marquette Sawyer Regional (MQT) Airport

Flights into the central Upper Peninsula land on a former Air Force runway in Gwinn, about 20 miles south of downtown Marquette, and the drive from that terminal sets the tone for the whole trip. Our Marquette Sawyer Regional (MQT) Airport limo service covers that stretch with a chauffeur who follows your flight, waits at baggage claim with a name sign, and has a warm vehicle at the curb before you walk out. Union Limousine runs this route as part of a statewide Michigan airport limo service, so the same booking desk, vehicle standards and flat quotes apply whether you are heading to a lakefront hotel on Lake Superior, a campus visit at Northern Michigan University or a mine site outside Ishpeming.

Why Michigan Travelers Book a Chauffeur at MQT?

MQT handles a small number of regional jet arrivals each day, and most of them come in within the same few hours. When two flights unload at once, the rental counters and the single taxi operator fill up fast, and a passenger without a plan can wait a long time in a cold parking lot. A reservation with our Michigan chauffeur service removes that gamble. Your driver is already on airport property when the wheels touch down, the fare is fixed before you leave home, and the vehicle is sized to your luggage and your party.

  • Live flight monitoring: we watch the American Eagle and Delta Connection arrivals and adjust pickup times when weather over Lake Superior pushes a schedule back.
  • Baggage claim meet and greet: your chauffeur waits inside the terminal, helps with bags and walks you to a vehicle parked steps from the exit.
  • Flat Upper Peninsula pricing: quotes to Marquette, Munising, Houghton or Escanaba are confirmed in writing, with no surge pricing on snowy nights.
  • Winter ready fleet: all wheel drive SUVs and Sprinter vans with fresh tires, heated cabins and drivers who handle lake effect snow every season.
  • Corporate billing: monthly invoicing for mining contractors, hospital staff, university departments and law firms that travel through MQT regularly.

Where We Drive From Sawyer Airport

Our Marquette Sawyer Regional Airport limo service reaches every corner of Marquette County and the neighboring counties along US 41, M 28 and M 95. Because the terminal sits in Forsyth Township, a good distance from the lakeshore, the first 25 minutes of most rides follow M 553 north through the Escanaba River State Forest before the city appears on the horizon. The same Michigan limo service team that works Detroit and Grand Rapids handles the Upper Peninsula with local drivers who know these roads in every season.

Marquette, Negaunee and Ishpeming

Downtown Marquette is the most common drop off, with the Landmark Inn, the Lower Harbor ore dock, Presque Isle Park and the NMU campus all within a few minutes of each other. Game days at the Superior Dome and move in weekends in late August bring heavy demand, and we recommend booking at least a week ahead for those dates. West along US 41, Negaunee and Ishpeming host Eagle Mine and Tilden Mine contractors, the Michigan Iron Industry Museum and the Noquemanon Trail Network trailheads, all of which are regular stops for our chauffeurs.

Munising, Escanaba and the Keweenaw

East of the airport, M 28 and M 94 lead to Munising and the Pictured Rocks cruise docks in about an hour, and the road continues toward the Seney National Wildlife Refuge, a 95,000 acre federal preserve that draws birders and photographers from across the Midwest. South on US 41, Escanaba and the Lake Michigan shoreline are roughly 50 miles away, while the Keweenaw Peninsula and Michigan Tech in Houghton sit about two hours north, with the Copper Harbor lighthouse another hour beyond. Longer transfers like these are quoted as a single flat fare, and the chauffeur stays with you for the whole ride.

Regional Airports and Group Transfers

Travelers who connect through other Upper Peninsula fields can book the same chauffeur for Houghton County Memorial (CMX), Delta County (ESC) in Escanaba, Ford Airport (IMT) in Iron Mountain, Chippewa County International (CIU) near Sault Ste. Marie and Austin Straubel (GRB) in Green Bay. Solo travelers and couples who prefer a sedan can also reserve our Marquette Sawyer Regional (MQT) Airport car service at a lower rate for the same meet and greet. For hockey teams, wedding parties and conference groups, our Michigan airport charter bus rental puts a motorcoach at the MQT curb with luggage bays sized for equipment bags and winter gear.

History and Regional Importance

The runway beneath your arriving jet was poured in 1959 for B52 bombers and KC135 tankers at K.I. Sawyer Air Force Base, which the Air Force operated for almost four decades before closing it in 1995. Marquette County converted the base into a civilian airport, and the first scheduled passenger flight, a Northwest arrival from Detroit, touched down on September 22, 1999, replacing the old Marquette County Airport in Negaunee Township. Today the county owned field covers about 2,100 acres, shares its grounds with the Telkite Technology Park, and remains the only commercial airport in the Upper Peninsula that operates without a federal air service subsidy. The county board approved the current name in March 2023 alongside a 20 million dollar renovation program, and the Michigan Department of Transportation named it Airport of the Year in 2019.

Airlines and Domestic Destinations

Two carriers currently operate scheduled service. American Eagle, flown by Envoy Air, connects MQT with Chicago O'Hare on 50 seat regional jets, and Chicago is the busiest route out of the airport with roughly 35,000 passengers a year. Delta Connection, flown by Endeavor Air, operates a daily nonstop to Detroit Metropolitan on a 76 seat CRJ 900. Delta's second route to Minneapolis St. Paul was paused after Labor Day 2026 for the winter, with the airline signaling a return in spring. United Airlines has announced three daily O'Hare flights on CRJ 550 jets, a launch that has been pushed back while a federal capacity order at Chicago remains in force, so check the airport's flight schedule for the current start date before you book.

Terminal Information

MQT has one compact passenger terminal with airline ticket counters, a single TSA checkpoint, jet bridges, a gate lounge, a snack bar and an Aviation Wall of Honor that recognizes the base's military past. An expanded waiting area opened in March 2025 to ease congestion when the Chicago and Detroit departures overlap, and a wider renovation of the entrance and public spaces continues. Eight rental car brands share counters beside baggage claim. Walking from the gate to the curb takes about two minutes, which is why our chauffeurs position the vehicle before the aircraft blocks in.

Passenger Traffic

The airport reported 112,076 total passengers in 2025, within a few percent of its pre pandemic high of 116,856 set in 2019, and airport board minutes from January 2026 show enplanements and deplanements up 18 percent year over year. Over the twelve months ending June 2026 the field handled about 123,000 passengers on roughly 1,600 scheduled flights, along with around 800,000 pounds of cargo carried by Ameriflight, FedEx Feeder and PACC Air. General aviation accounts for well over half of the 18,000 annual aircraft movements, with 41 based aircraft recorded in late 2023.

Parking Overview

Parking at MQT is gated and automated: take a ticket on entry and pay at exit. The first two hours in the main lot are free, then rates step up from 2 dollars for two to four hours to a 5 dollar daily maximum and a 35 dollar weekly maximum, with a 50 dollar charge for a lost ticket. Corporate, affiliate and employee permits are available through the airport office. Full details are posted on the airport's parking and transportation page. In deep winter the lot is plowed frequently, but a car left for a week can still need digging out, which is one reason many regulars leave the car at home and book a chauffeur for both legs.

Pick Up and Drop Off Guidance

The terminal curb is short and shared by taxis, rental shuttles and private cars, so standing vehicles are moved along quickly. Our chauffeurs use the two free hours in the main lot to wait, then pull to the curb the moment you clear baggage claim. For departures, we drop you at the terminal doors with your bags on the curb, and the single checkpoint means a 60 to 75 minute arrival window is comfortable for most domestic flights. Tell us your airline and flight number when you book and we will confirm the exact meeting point by text the morning of travel.

Ground Transportation Options

Options beyond a prebooked chauffeur are limited. One local taxi and delivery operator serves the terminal, rental counters close soon after the last arrival, and rideshare coverage is thin because few drivers base themselves 20 miles from the city. Marq Tran, the Marquette County Transit Authority, runs fixed routes Monday through Saturday and door to door service seven days a week, supported in part by the Federal Transit Administration's rural area formula program, but schedules are built around county residents, not flight times. For a traveler with luggage, a confirmed reservation is the dependable choice.

Tips for Arriving Passengers

Before You Fly

  • Share your flight number so we can track diversions; fog and lake effect snow occasionally send MQT arrivals to Green Bay or Escanaba.
  • Pack a warm layer in your carry on from November through April. The walk to the curb is short, but the temperature difference from Chicago or Detroit can be 20 degrees.
  • Confirm your hotel address and gate code, since several Marquette rentals and cabins sit on unlit county roads.

After You Land

  • Baggage usually appears within 10 minutes; your chauffeur will be at the carousel with a name sign.
  • Cell coverage drops along stretches of M 553 and M 28, so download maps or directions before leaving the terminal.
  • If you need a stop for groceries or supplies on the way to a cabin, mention it at booking and we will route through Marquette or Gwinn.

Winter Travel Note

Marquette County records some of the heaviest snowfall in the Midwest, and the airport's own crews keep the runway open through storms that close roads downstate. Our drivers build extra time into winter pickups, carry emergency kits and will reschedule at no charge if your inbound flight cancels.

Quick Checklist

  • Flight number shared, phone charged, destination address confirmed, outerwear within reach.

Why a Prebooked Chauffeur Beats Taxis and Rideshare at MQT?

At a hub airport a rideshare queue refills every few minutes. At a rural field 20 miles from town, the queue can be empty, and a taxi dispatched after you land adds a half hour to your evening. A prebooked chauffeur from Union Limousine is already parked when the jet bridge connects, the price was locked in days earlier, and the vehicle was chosen for your group size and your bags. You also get a driver who knows which Marquette streets flood in the spring thaw, where the deer cross M 553 at dusk and how long the Third Street detours last during festival weekends. That local knowledge, combined with flight tracking and a fixed fare, turns an unpredictable arrival into a predictable one.

Reserve Your Marquette Sawyer Regional Airport Limo

Booking takes about two minutes. Send your flight details, passenger count and destination through the reservation form at Union Limousine or call our dispatch desk, and you will receive a written confirmation with the vehicle, the fare and your chauffeur's contact information. Every limo service booking at MQT includes flight monitoring, meet and greet at baggage claim and a free reschedule if your airline changes the plan. Reserve early for NMU commencement, the Ore to Shore race weekend and the holiday travel peaks, when Upper Peninsula vehicles book out quickly.

The terminal in Gwinn is about 20 miles south of downtown Marquette. In normal conditions the drive up M 553 or US 41 takes 25 to 30 minutes, and our chauffeurs add a cushion in winter.

Yes. We monitor every American Eagle and Delta Connection arrival in real time and move the pickup when a flight is late, diverted or cancelled, with no change fee.

Your driver waits beside the baggage carousel holding a sign with your name. From there it is a short walk to the vehicle, which is parked in the main lot near the terminal doors.

Absolutely. NMU campus addresses, the Superior Dome and university guest housing are among our most frequent drop offs, and we offer department billing for visiting faculty and recruits.

Yes. Transfers to Munising, Escanaba, Iron Mountain, Houghton and other Upper Peninsula towns are quoted as a single flat fare that includes tolls, fuel and waiting time at the airport.

A full size SUV carries six passengers with six checked bags and carry ons. For seven or eight people, or for extra gear, a Sprinter van gives everyone a seat and the luggage its own cage.

We recommend departing downtown about 90 minutes before a domestic departure, which covers the 30 minute drive and the single security checkpoint with time to spare. In heavy snow we suggest two hours.

Yes. Infant, convertible and booster seats are installed on request at no extra charge. Please tell us each child's age and weight when you book so the correct seat is fitted.

A 14 passenger Sprinter handles a small squad with equipment in the rear cage, and a mini charter bus seats up to 35 with under floor bays for larger teams and their gear.

Major credit cards, corporate accounts and prepayment through the online form are all accepted. Gratuity can be added at booking or handed to the chauffeur at the end of the ride.
