St. Charles County Smartt (SET) Airport Limo Service
Business teams flying into Smartt Field get a chauffeur, live flight tracking and a spotless sedan or SUV. St. Charles County Smartt (SET) Airport Limo Service covers Missouri, MO with upfront quotes.

Stretch Limo Service to and from St. Charles County Smartt (SET) Airport
Smartt Field sits on the quiet floodplain between the Missouri and Mississippi rivers, a short drive from the shops of Historic Main Street and about 35 minutes from the heart of St. Louis. Pilots love it for the relaxed pace and the 1940s hangars, yet travelers who step off a charter or a private aircraft here quickly discover that Portage des Sioux has no taxi stand and no bus stop. That is where our St. Charles County Smartt (SET) Airport Limo Service comes in. Union Limousine positions a licensed chauffeur at the ramp before your wheels touch down, loads your bags, and takes you anywhere in Missouri, MO, backed by the same standards that run our wider Missouri airport limo service.
Whether you are bringing a Cirrus in for a business meeting in Chesterfield, flying to a wedding at a Defiance winery, or leading a group to the Commemorative Air Force museum, we match the vehicle to the trip. Sedans, SUVs, stretch limousines, Sprinter vans and full size coaches are all available with flat quotes agreed before departure.
Why Travelers Choose Our St. Charles County Smartt Airport Limo Service?
Small airports reward preparation. Our dispatch team watches your tail number on flight tracking, confirms the FBO you filed to, and times the chauffeur's arrival to the minute. Union Limousine has handled airport transfers since 1997, and the habits built at JFK and LaGuardia travel well to a county field where the ramp is a few steps from the parking lot.
- Flight tracking on every private and charter arrival into KSET, with waiting time adjusted at no charge for early or late touchdowns
- Chauffeurs who know Grafton Ferry Road, Highway 94 and the Route 370 bridge, so a river fog delay or a closed levee road never catches us off guard
- Flat, all inclusive pricing quoted in writing before you fly
- Meet and greet at the St. Charles Flying Service office, the CAF hangar, or beside your aircraft on the ramp when the airport allows
- Child seats, extra luggage space and wheelchair accessible vehicles on request
- Round the clock reservations by phone, email or online form
Where We Drive From Smartt Field in Missouri, MO?
St. Charles County and the Confluence Region
The airport's neighbors are farms, levees and wetlands. Portage des Sioux itself is a village of a few hundred residents best known for the Our Lady of the Rivers shrine on the Mississippi bank. A few minutes south on Island Road, the 918 acre Marais Temps Clair Conservation Area draws birders to its old oxbow marsh, while West Alton and the Riverlands area sit to the east near the Clark Bridge. From the airport we run regular transfers to St. Charles, St. Peters, O'Fallon, Lake Saint Louis, Wentzville, Cottleville, Weldon Spring and the Augusta and Defiance wine country along the Katy Trail.
Greater St. Louis and Beyond
Cross the Missouri River and the entire metro opens up: Chesterfield's corporate parks, Clayton law offices, Washington University, the Central West End hospitals, the downtown stadiums and the convention center. We also handle long distance runs to Columbia, Jefferson City, Kansas City and Springfield, and across the Mississippi into Alton, Edwardsville and the Illinois side of the metro. Many clients pair a Smartt Field pickup with a later drop at St. Louis Lambert International for a commercial connection, and our chauffeurs plan the route around Lambert's terminal curbs.
Limo Services We Offer at Smartt (SET) Airport
Private Flight and Charter Arrivals
Most of our SET bookings begin with a tail number. Owners flying their own aircraft, jet card members routed to a quieter field, and air charter guests all want the same thing: a car that is already there. Give us your estimated arrival and the FBO, and the chauffeur will be waiting with a name sign and a cold bottle of water.
Corporate and Executive Travel
Companies across St. Charles County use Smartt Field to avoid the queues at larger airports, and they need ground transportation that keeps the same promise. Our Missouri airport car service delivers executives to boardrooms in Chesterfield Valley, the Westport Plaza corridor and the data centers around O'Fallon with Wi Fi, phone chargers and a quiet cabin for calls on the way.
Weddings, Wineries and Special Occasions
Fly in for the celebration and let a stretch limousine finish the trip. Our Missouri limo service carries bridal parties to Main Street churches, vineyard receptions in Augusta and photo stops along the riverfront, with red carpet service and a chilled champagne bucket ready on request.
Group Transfers, Air Shows and Flight School Visits
The Commemorative Air Force open house, EAA Chapter 32 fly ins and the autumn pumpkin drop pull crowds to the field every year. For families, aviation clubs and student groups touring St. Charles Flying Service, our Missouri airport Sprinter van service keeps everyone in one vehicle, and larger parties move together in a party bus or motorcoach.

Official airport website: St. Charles County Regional Airport, Smartt Field
Brief History and Importance of the Airport
The field opened in May 1941 as a Navy training base, one of the outlying fields where cadets from the St. Louis area practiced takeoffs and landings before the United States entered the war. It was renamed for Ensign Joseph G. Smartt, a Navy pilot who had trained at the Robertson reserve base and was killed on December 7, 1941 during the attack on Naval Air Station Kaneohe Bay in Hawaii; he is remembered locally as the first St. Charles County resident lost in the conflict. In 1957 the federal government deeded 184 acres to the City of St. Charles and the county together, and the city released its share to the county in 1976. Today the airport covers 312 acres at 437 feet above sea level and is listed in the national airport plan as a general aviation reliever that draws light aircraft traffic away from Lambert.
History is still parked on the ramp. The Commemorative Air Force Missouri Wing keeps a B 25 Mitchell named Show Me, a TBM Avenger and a PT 17 Stearman inside a wooden hangar that dates to the Navy years, and its museum opens to the public on Thursdays and Saturdays. Between the flight school, the maintenance shops and the warbird campus, the airport brings dozens of jobs and a steady flow of visitor spending into the county.
Airlines Operating From SET
No scheduled airline serves St. Charles County Smartt Airport, and none is expected, because the 3,800 foot main runway and the 12,500 pound weight limit are sized for piston aircraft, light turboprops and helicopters. Flying here means a private aircraft, a flying club rental, an instructional flight or an on demand charter arranged through St. Charles Flying Service. Travelers who need an airline ticket use St. Louis Lambert International, about 35 minutes away by car, or Spirit of St. Louis Airport in Chesterfield for larger business jets.
Domestic Destinations
Because there is no airline timetable, destinations from SET are whatever the pilot files. Typical trips are regional: Chicago area fields, Kansas City, Springfield, Branson, Nashville, Indianapolis, Memphis and the Lake of the Ozarks. Charter operators based at the field can reach much of the eastern half of the country in a single day with a light twin. Our chauffeurs plan the ground leg to match, whether that is a 10 minute hop to a Portage des Sioux river house or a two hour run to Columbia.
Terminal Information
There is no airline terminal. Arriving passengers walk from the ramp into one of three fixed base operator buildings: the St. Charles Flying Service office, which offers maintenance, flight instruction, charter and small air cargo; the Commemorative Air Force campus with its heritage hangar; and the EAA Chapter 32 building. Inside the county terminal building you will find a pilot lounge, restrooms, Wi Fi, an automated weather readout and the rentable meeting rooms. Hours of attendance run 7:30 am to 4:30 pm from November through March and 7:30 am until dusk from April through October.
Runways, Hangars and Ramp
The main runway, 18/36, measures 3,800 by 75 feet with lighting for night operations, and a 2,000 foot crosswind strip, 9/27, handles light traffic in strong westerly winds. The field has no control tower; pilots self announce on 122.7 and read weather on 118.075. Ninety two T hangars are rented to based owners, ramp tie downs are plentiful, and the CAF runs a self serve avgas pump that takes cards around the clock. Only 100LL is sold, so jet operators plan fuel stops elsewhere.
Passenger Traffic
The FAA counts flight operations here, and recent figures run between 55,000 and 60,000 takeoffs and landings a year with about 90 aircraft based on the field. Most of those movements are training circuits, which is why the charts carry the note heavy student training. Passenger numbers are a fraction of that figure, usually one to four people per arriving aircraft, which means every pickup is personal and the ramp is never crowded.
Parking Overview
Visitor parking is a free surface lot beside the terminal and FBO buildings, with no gates, no tickets and no hourly meter. Aircraft parking is handled through the FBOs, who assign tie downs and hangar space. The airport closes when river floodwater reaches the runways, and in those weeks tenants move aircraft to higher ground; a chauffeur who checks with the airport office before departure saves a wasted trip.
Pick Up and Drop Off Guidance
Tell us which FBO you are using when you book. On arrival day your chauffeur parks in the visitor lot, confirms your aircraft with the FBO desk and waits at the door closest to your ramp. When airport staff permit it, we can bring the vehicle to the ramp gate so luggage moves straight from the baggage door to the trunk. For departures, we drop you at the same FBO door 30 to 45 minutes before your pilot's planned engine start.
Meeting Your Chauffeur
Look for the name sign in the FBO lobby. If your pilot diverts to Creve Coeur, Spirit of St. Louis or St. Louis Regional in Illinois because of fog or crosswinds, call dispatch and the same chauffeur follows you to the new field.
What to Have Ready
- Tail number and estimated arrival time
- FBO name and a mobile number for the pilot
- Final passenger count and luggage count
- Destination address and any stops on the way
Airport office for ramp access questions: +1 636 949 1893
Ground Transportation Options
Public transit does not reach Grafton Ferry Road. The closest bus and trolley services run inside the city of St. Charles, and the Greater St. Charles transportation guide covers those routes along with regional rail and airport connections. Rental cars can be arranged in advance through the FBO. Taxis and rideshare drivers rarely stage near Portage des Sioux, so app requests often show a long wait while a driver travels out from St. Charles or Lambert. A reserved chauffeur removes that uncertainty.
Tips for Arriving Passengers
- Share your tail number the night before so dispatch can watch the flight live and adjust the pickup time.
- Pack for a short outdoor walk; the path from the ramp to the parking lot is uncovered and the river wind is brisk in winter.
- Visiting Lindenwood University? Ask for a drop at the Kingshighway campus entrance, about 20 minutes south of the field.
- Book the return pickup at the same time; cell coverage on the levee roads can be patchy and a confirmed time beats a last minute call.
- Spring and early summer bring high water; confirm the airport is open with your pilot and we will stand by at an alternate field if needed.
- Keep an hour spare for the CAF museum; the warbird hangar is a two minute walk from the FBO and opens Thursdays and Saturdays.
Why a Prebooked Chauffeur Beats Taxis and Rideshare at SET?
At a big hub, a taxi line is a safe fallback. At a rural field north of St. Charles, it does not exist. Rideshare pricing surges when the nearest driver is 20 miles away, and the driver may cancel once the pickup pin shows a levee road. A prebooked chauffeur from Union Limousine is tied to your flight, arrives with a fixed price agreed before you left home, brings a vehicle sized for your bags, and knows which gate the FBO opens for ground vehicles. For executives and wedding parties on a schedule, that certainty is the whole point.

Frequently Asked Questions
Explore our FAQs to learn more about our luxury fleet, professional chauffeurs, airport transfers, reservations, and private transportation services designed for a comfortable and seamless travel experience.
No. SET is a general aviation field with no scheduled airlines and no IATA code. Arrivals are private aircraft, flying club rentals, training flights and on demand charters. We serve all of them, and we also connect you to St. Louis Lambert when a commercial flight follows.
The airport is about 12 miles north of Historic Main Street along Highway 94 and Grafton Ferry Road, roughly 15 minutes by car in normal traffic. Downtown St. Louis is about 35 minutes away, and Chesterfield Valley takes 30 to 40 minutes depending on the Route 370 and I 64 traffic.
Yes. The chauffeur waits in the lobby of the FBO you named at booking, usually St. Charles Flying Service, and when airport staff allow it the vehicle pulls up to the ramp gate so bags move straight from the aircraft to the trunk.
Sedans and SUVs can usually be confirmed with a few hours of notice, though 24 hours is safer for weekends and the fall open house. Stretch limousines, Sprinter vans and coaches should be booked several days ahead so the right vehicle is positioned north of St. Charles in time.
A light twin or turboprop charter typically brings four to eight people, which fits one SUV or a 14 passenger Sprinter with luggage. For air show weekends and club fly ins we stage party buses and mini coaches for 30 to 35 guests, and full size motorcoaches for larger groups.
We do. Give us your tail number or the charter operator's flight details and dispatch follows the aircraft live, adjusting the chauffeur's departure if you leave early, hold for weather or divert to another St. Louis area field.
Yes, this is one of our most common SET runs. The drive to Lambert takes about 35 minutes, and the chauffeur drops you at the correct terminal curb for your airline, Terminal 2 for Southwest and Terminal 1 for most other carriers.
There is no wait fee for delays we can see on flight tracking. Because we follow your aircraft, the chauffeur simply leaves later. Waiting charges only apply when a passenger is unreachable after a confirmed touchdown, and that is rare.
We do. Augusta, Defiance and the Katy Trail wine country sit about 45 minutes southwest of the airport, and a stretch limousine, SUV or Sprinter can carry your party between tasting rooms and back to the field or a St. Charles hotel at the end of the day.
Yes. The Commemorative Air Force open house and pumpkin drop draws visitors every autumn, and parking fills early. Book a Sprinter, party bus or mini coach from your hotel, school or office and the whole group arrives and leaves together without hunting for a space.
