Gunnison Crested Butte Regional (GUC) Airport Limo Service

Weddings, wildflower season and university weekends all arrive through GUC. Book Gunnison Crested Butte Regional (GUC) Airport Limo Service for flight tracked pickups and set valley wide fares, today.

Stretch Limo Service to and from Gunnison Crested Butte Regional (GUC) Airport

Flights into Gunnison Crested Butte Regional Airport touch down at 7,680 feet, and the ride that follows decides how a ski week or a summer escape begins. Our Gunnison Crested Butte Regional (GUC) Airport limo service meets every United and American arrival with a chauffeur who already knows the gate, the ski bag slide and the quickest line out to US Highway 50. GUC transfers belong to the same Colorado airport limo service we run statewide, so they are quoted, confirmed and dispatched with the care we bring to Denver and Aspen, and every booking carries live flight tracking so a weather hold on the Front Range never leaves you standing at the curb in Gunnison.

Union Limousine built its name on New York airport runs, and that discipline travels well to the Gunnison Valley: licensed chauffeurs, late model vehicles, a flat price agreed before pickup, and a dispatcher who answers the phone at five in the morning on a powder day. Crested Butte sits 28 miles north of the terminal on Colorado 135, Mt. Crested Butte lies four miles beyond that, and the lodges of Almont and the campgrounds along Blue Mesa Reservoir are within an easy half hour. Wherever your reservation ends, we have a vehicle sized for the group and for the luggage a mountain trip produces.

Why a Pre Booked Chauffeur Beats the GUC Shuttle Lineup?

Gunnison County requires every commercial ground transportation company to hold an operating agreement before it can load passengers at the terminal, and the major app based rideshare brands have not signed one. That leaves arriving travelers choosing between a rental counter, a seat on a reservation only valley shuttle that departs on its own timetable, or a private chauffeur booked in advance. We think the third option earns its price on the first winter evening you step off a Chicago flight at 6:15 p.m. with a family, four ski bags and a reservation in Mt. Crested Butte.

  • Private vehicle for your party alone, with no shared stops along Colorado 135
  • Chauffeur waiting at the lower lobby baggage claim before the carousel starts turning
  • Ski, snowboard and oversize luggage planned into the vehicle choice from the first call
  • Child seats, extra stops in Gunnison for groceries, and late evening pickups arranged ahead
  • One flat quote that already includes the return leg if you book the round trip

GUC Transfers Across the Gunnison Valley and Beyond

Crested Butte and Mt. Crested Butte Ski Transfers

The drive from the terminal to the historic district on Elk Avenue takes 30 to 40 minutes depending on road conditions, and the base area at Crested Butte Mountain Resort is another few minutes up Gothic Road. Our chauffeurs run this route all winter, so they know how early the afternoon sun leaves the canyon north of Almont and where plows stack the snow near the Four Way Stop. Sedans and SUVs carry couples and small families, while Sprinter vans move ski groups with every bag inside the cabin, out of the slush and the wind.

Gunnison, Almont, Western Colorado University and Blue Mesa Reservoir

Plenty of GUC passengers never head up the valley at all. Western Colorado University sits a few minutes from the airport, and we handle move in weekends, commencement, admitted student visits and guest lecturer transfers through the same Gunnison County car service desk that books ski arrivals. Fly fishing parties bound for the Taylor and East Rivers around Almont, boating groups with cabins on Blue Mesa Reservoir, and families headed into Curecanti National Recreation Area all get a vehicle with the cargo room their gear demands and a chauffeur who knows the ranch roads off US 50.

Montrose, Monarch Pass and the Front Range Connections

When a winter storm closes the valley to incoming flights, travelers often reroute through Montrose Regional, about 65 miles west along US 50 past the Black Canyon of the Gunnison. We can pick up at either airport, and our Montrose Regional (MTJ) Airport car service shares the same dispatch, so a last minute airport change does not mean a new booking. Eastbound, the climb over 11,312 foot Monarch Pass connects Gunnison to Salida, Colorado Springs and Denver, and summer visitors frequently ask us to turn the transfer into a day on the West Elk Loop, the scenic byway that threads Crested Butte, Kebler Pass, Paonia and the Black Canyon rim into one route. Those longer runs fall under the limo service in Colorado we provide across the state, priced by the hour or as a flat intercity fare.

Trips That Begin at the GUC Curb

Ski Weeks and Epic Pass Groups

Crested Butte Mountain Resort joined the Epic Pass family when Vail Resorts took over the mountain, and the airport has felt it: the winter Chicago nonstop returned, Houston service grew and United now runs up to three Denver flights a day in peak season. Ski groups tell us the hardest forty minutes of the trip come after the plane lands. Our GUC airport car service fixes that with vehicles that already have racks or interior room for skis, a chauffeur holding your name at baggage claim and a direct run to the base area or your rental address.

Crested Butte Weddings and Summer Festivals

July brings the Crested Butte Wildflower Festival and a packed wedding calendar, with ceremonies at ranches along the Slate River, at the resort and on the lawns of historic inns on Elk Avenue. Union Limousine handles the airport side of those weekends: guests arriving across several Denver flights, a bridal party that wants to ride together, and departure day shuttles that leave the lodge early enough to clear security in Gunnison with time to spare. Stretch limousines and party buses are popular for the celebration itself, while a Sprinter van keeps a wedding party moving between venues without anyone losing the keys to a rental car.

Corporate Travel, Retreats and University Visits

Companies choose the Gunnison Valley for retreats precisely because it is hard to reach, which makes the transfer the most fragile piece of the agenda. We stage the right number of vehicles for each inbound flight, confirm manifests the night before, and keep a chauffeur on call for the executive who misses the Denver connection and lands on the last flight of the evening. Western Colorado University and the Gunnison hospital district also generate steady traffic for visiting specialists, accreditation teams and speakers who expect a sedan waiting at the curb.

Gunnison Crested Butte Regional (GUC) Airport Information

A Brief History and Why GUC Matters to the Valley

Commercial flying in Gunnison dates to the late 1940s, when Monarch Airlines linked the town to Denver before folding into the original Frontier Airlines, whose DC 3 aircraft made the multi stop run from Denver in 1950 and whose Convair 580 turboprops served Denver and Montrose by 1967. Seasonal jet service arrived in 1985, with Boeing 737s from Dallas Fort Worth and Houston, and by the end of 1989 five carriers were serving the field. Today the county owned airport covers 1,600 acres a mile southwest of downtown, with a 9,400 by 150 foot main runway (6/24) and a short turf strip for summer light aircraft.

The modern terminal is the result of a $24 million renovation that broke ground on April 30, 2021, funded by $10 million in FAA grants and $14 million from federal relief money. Gunnison County's groundbreaking announcement laid out the plan: an expanded security checkpoint, new baggage claim, jet bridges, hold room restrooms and concessions, covered parking and a rebuilt access road. Gensler designed the 48,000 square foot, two story building to run all electric on a geothermal well field and an 849 kilowatt solar array developed with the City of Gunnison and Western Colorado University, a package that earned a 2024 AIA Colorado Design Award honorable mention and a 2025 Green GOOD DESIGN Award. For a valley with no interstate and no passenger rail, the airport is the front door for most visitors to Crested Butte Mountain Resort.

Airlines Operating at GUC

Two mainline carriers and one public charter operator serve Gunnison. United Express flies Denver year round, scaling from two daily round trips in the shoulder seasons to three in peak winter and summer, and adds seasonal nonstops from Houston Intercontinental (daily in winter, weekends in summer) and Chicago O'Hare on winter Saturdays. The Chicago service doubled for the 2025 to 2026 season, running from December 19, 2025 through March 29, 2026, and is expected back for the coming winter. American Airlines connects Dallas Fort Worth through the ski months, and JSX has operated summer hop on jet flights from Dallas Love Field. Several of these routes are supported by minimum revenue guarantees from the Gunnison Valley Rural Transportation Authority, so dates shift from year to year and are worth confirming with the airline before you book ground transportation.

Domestic Destinations From GUC

  • Denver International (DEN) on United, year round
  • Houston George Bush Intercontinental (IAH) on United, winter and summer seasons
  • Chicago O'Hare (ORD) on United, winter Saturdays
  • Dallas Fort Worth (DFW) on American, winter season
  • Dallas Love Field (DAL) on JSX, summer season in recent years

Terminal Information

GUC operates a single two story terminal with four gates, two of them jet bridges and two ground level, and escalators carrying passengers up to the second floor hold rooms. Baggage claim is in the lower lobby, with one carousel and a dedicated slide for skis and other oversize pieces. A locally owned concession called the Living Room serves the hold rooms, and handcrafted artwork from valley makers runs through the building. Gunnison Valley Aviation is the fixed base operator for private and charter aircraft.

Passenger Traffic

For the twelve months ending May 2025, Denver was the dominant market at roughly 43,100 passengers, followed by Dallas Fort Worth near 12,100 and Houston at about 5,900, figures of the kind the Bureau of Transportation Statistics publishes for every commercial airport. Winter 2025 bookings ran 16 percent ahead of the prior February, 21 percent ahead in March and 34 percent ahead in April, and about a quarter of January passengers were valley residents, a sign that local travelers are choosing GUC over the long drive to Denver. Expect the busiest curb during Saturday afternoon banks in February and March, when the Chicago, Houston and Denver arrivals stack up within the same hour.

Parking Overview

Gunnison County set a formal parking and fee schedule for the airport in January 2024. Short term parking in front of the terminal runs $10 per day with the first 30 minutes free, and long term public parking is $100 per vehicle for each 30 day period, with passes handled through the county. The renovation added a covered parking section and expanded the surface lots, and airport staff patrol the lots routinely. Rates are set by ordinance and can change, so check the county airport page before a long stay.

Pick Up and Drop Off Guidance

The ordinance also created a designated passenger drop off and pick up lane directly in front of the terminal building. For arrivals, our chauffeur waits inside at the lower lobby baggage claim holding a sign with your name, helps with ski bags off the oversize slide and walks you to the vehicle staged in the ground transportation area. For departures, allow a stop at the curb of about two minutes; winter mornings before the Denver and Houston departures are the busiest, so we plan an earlier pickup on those days.

Ground Transportation Options

Hertz, Avis and Budget keep counters at GUC, and advance reservations are strongly advised in ski season when four wheel drive inventory runs out. Several reservation only shuttle companies serve the valley, each departing on its own schedule. The Gunnison Valley RTA runs a free bus between Gunnison and Crested Butte, and the Mountain Express links Crested Butte with Mt. Crested Butte, but neither stops at the airport and neither carries luggage, which is why most visitors arrange a private vehicle. Rural systems like the RTA are typically supported through the Federal Transit Administration's Formula Grants for Rural Areas program, which funds transit in communities under 50,000 residents. Bustang also connects Denver with Gunnison and Crested Butte by intercity coach.

Tips for Arriving Passengers

  • Drink water from the moment you land; the terminal sits at 7,680 feet and Mt. Crested Butte is higher still
  • Sign up for the county's NotifyMe alerts for cancellation and delay messages by text or email
  • Grab skis and snowboards from the oversize slide beside the carousel
  • Keep a layer handy; the walk from the terminal door to the vehicle is short but January air bites
  • Confirm your Denver connection the night before; weather holds on the Front Range ripple into Gunnison
  • Tell your chauffeur if you need a grocery or pharmacy stop in Gunnison before the valley drive

Why a Pre Booked Chauffeur Is Often More Convenient Than Taxis or Rideshare?

Rideshare apps do not operate at GUC because the county requires an operating agreement the major platforms have not signed, and taxi capacity in a town of 6,500 people is thin at best. A pre booked chauffeur removes the guesswork: the vehicle is confirmed days ahead, the fare is fixed, the driver is tracking your flight, and the ride is sized for your gear. Union Limousine adds one more layer by staffing dispatch around the clock, so when United rebooks you onto a later Denver flight at 9 p.m., a single text updates the pickup and the chauffeur is still there when you walk down to baggage claim.

Reserve Your GUC Chauffeur Before the Snow Flies

Peak ski weekends, the Wildflower Festival and university move in dates fill our Gunnison calendar weeks ahead, so the best time to book is the day your flight is ticketed. Share the airline, flight number, passenger count and luggage, and Union Limousine will return a flat quote with the vehicle, the chauffeur meeting point at baggage claim and a confirmation you can forward to everyone in the group. Round trips, hourly charters for a day on the West Elk Loop, and multi vehicle wedding logistics are all part of the same limo service we deliver at airports across the country. The historic town of Crested Butte is 28 miles north on Colorado 135, usually 30 to 40 minutes in a chauffeured SUV. Mt. Crested Butte and the resort base are about four miles farther. Snow, holiday traffic at the Four Way Stop and road work can add time, which is why we quote conservative pickup windows in winter.

Yes. Sedans, SUVs, Sprinter vans and stretch limousines all run from the GUC curb to Mt. Crested Butte lodging and the base area at Crested Butte Mountain Resort. Give us your check in address and we will stage the vehicle to match your arrival time.

No. Gunnison County requires an operating agreement for commercial pickups at GUC, and the main rideshare platforms have not signed one. Approved rental car, shuttle and chauffeur companies hold the required agreement, so a pre booked car is the dependable way to leave the terminal.

Your chauffeur waits at the lower lobby baggage claim with a name sign. There is one carousel plus a separate slide for skis and oversize bags, and the chauffeur will help gather both before walking you to the vehicle in the ground transportation area in front of the building.

We track every inbound flight, so a delay or a rebooking onto a later Denver departure updates the pickup automatically. Dispatch is staffed around the clock and will text you a confirmation of the new time. Waiting time caused by airline delays is not billed.

Yes. SUVs take two or three ski bags in the cargo area, and Sprinter vans and charter buses hold full group loads inside the cabin. Let us know the number of ski or board bags, bike cases or rod tubes when you book so we assign the right vehicle.

Our Mercedes Sprinter vans seat up to 14 passengers with their gear and are the most requested vehicle for ski clubs, extended families and wedding parties arriving at Gunnison. For groups above 14 we move to mini charter buses or full size coaches.

Yes. We run intercity transfers east over Monarch Pass to Salida, Colorado Springs and Denver, and west along US 50 to Montrose and Grand Junction. These are quoted as flat fares, and our chauffeurs monitor CDOT pass conditions before every winter departure.

Plan on leaving 90 minutes to two hours before a winter departure, which covers the valley drive, a check in line at the counter and security. Summer flights usually need 75 to 90 minutes. We will recommend a pickup time based on your airline and the day's weather.

Yes. July festival weeks and the surrounding wedding season are among our busiest in the valley. We provide airport transfers, hourly charters for guided outings and group vehicles for events, and recommend reserving as soon as your flights are confirmed.
