What we offer

Hancock County Bar Harbor (BHB) Airport Limo Service

Cruise guests, wedding parties and lab visitors all rely on our Hancock County Bar Harbor (BHB) Airport Limo Service for flight tracked Cape Air pickups, meet and greet and fog day rebooking in Maine.

Stretch Limo Service to and from Hancock County Bar Harbor (BHB) Airport

A flight into Trenton puts you fifteen minutes from the Acadia park entrance and a world away from a big city terminal. There is one gate, one baggage area and a short walk to the curb, which is exactly why a waiting chauffeur matters so much here. Our Hancock County Bar Harbor (BHB) Airport Limo Service covers every Cape Air arrival and departure, every private jet handled by the FBO on Caruso Drive, and every summer cruise guest who needs a ride between the airport and the Bar Harbor waterfront. As part of our Maine airport limo service, the BHB route is staffed by chauffeurs who know Route 3 traffic in July, the fog patterns over Frenchman Bay, and the quickest way around the Trenton bridge when the summer line backs up.

We serve the whole of Maine, ME from this one small airfield. Mount Desert Island, Ellsworth, Blue Hill, the Schoodic Peninsula and the Bangor corridor all sit inside our regular coverage, and longer transfers to Portland, Boston Logan or the New Hampshire seacoast are booked daily during peak season.

Why Travelers Across Maine Rely on Our BHB Airport Limo Service?

Cape Air schedules into BHB are tight, the aircraft are small, and weather holds are part of life on the coast. Union Limousine builds the BHB service around those realities. Every reservation is matched to a flight number, every chauffeur carries a printed name board, and every vehicle is cleaned and staged before the aircraft touches down.

  • Flight tracking on every Cape Air and JetBlue codeshare arrival, with pickup time adjusted automatically for holds and early landings
  • Chauffeurs who are familiar with the Trenton terminal, the short term lot, the FBO apron and the seaplane ramp
  • Fixed quotes confirmed in writing before travel, with no surge pricing during the Acadia summer rush
  • Child seats, luggage trailers for group gear, and bike or kayak accommodation on request
  • Twenty four hour reservations desk reachable by phone, text or email in any time zone
  • Full commercial insurance, licensed drivers and vehicles inspected to Maine state standards

Flight Tracking for Cape Air and JetBlue Connections

Most BHB passengers arrive on a Cape Air flight from Boston Logan that was ticketed as a JetBlue, Delta or American connection. We monitor the operating flight, which means a delayed inbound from Logan never leaves you searching for a chauffeur who gave up and left. The same logic applies on departure: if Cape Air pushes a schedule back, we push your pickup back and tell you before you are standing at the door with your bags. Our limo service model is built on that single idea: the car is where you expect it, when you expect it.

Meet and Greet at the Trenton Terminal

The BHB terminal has one public hall, so a meet and greet here is fast and personal. Your chauffeur waits beside the baggage area, takes the luggage, and walks you fewer than a hundred feet to the vehicle. For FBO arrivals, we coordinate directly with the handler so the car is parked on the apron side gate as the aircraft shuts down.

BHB Limo Service for Acadia, Mount Desert Island and the Down East Coast

Trenton sits at the mainland end of the Thompson Island bridge, which makes it the natural gateway to everything on Mount Desert Island and the quieter towns along Frenchman Bay. Union Limousine chauffeurs make these runs every day of the season, and our limo service in Maine reaches all of them with a single flat quote per destination.

Bar Harbor, Northeast Harbor and Southwest Harbor

The run from BHB to downtown Bar Harbor takes about twenty minutes outside of peak traffic. We drop at the Bar Harbor Inn, the Harborside, the Balance Rock Inn, the West Street piers and private rentals along Eden Street. Northeast Harbor and Southwest Harbor sit on the quiet side of the island, and chauffeurs route through Somesville to reach the Asticou, the Claremont and the Kimball Terrace without the Route 3 congestion.

Ellsworth, Blue Hill and the Schoodic Peninsula

Ellsworth is ten minutes north of the airport and serves as the shopping and medical hub for the region. We handle transfers to Northern Light Maine Coast Hospital, the Grand Theatre and High Street hotels. Blue Hill, Deer Isle and Stonington lie southwest along Route 15, while Winter Harbor and the Schoodic section of Acadia sit across the bay on Route 186. Each of these drives is a regular booking for summer residents and visiting artists.

Bangor, Portland and Long Distance Transfers

When fog grounds the Cape Air flight, the fastest way to a working runway is Bangor International, roughly fifty miles up Route 1A. We run BHB to BGR transfers in under an hour and hold the car if your rebooked flight slips. Portland Jetport is about three hours southwest, Boston Logan around five, and both are booked regularly by families who prefer a chauffeured sedan to a rental car and a toll road.

Brief History and Importance of BHB

The field began as a town airport in the 1930s. In 1941 the federal government leased it from the Town of Bar Harbor and rebuilt it for naval use, adding three runways, blimp mooring facilities and the seaplane ramp that still exists today. During the Second World War, Kingfisher floatplanes flew offshore submarine patrols from Trenton, and British and Canadian pilots later trained here in carrier procedures. The lease ended with the war, the town took the field back, and on March 20, 1962 ownership passed to Hancock County, a story told in detail on the airport's own history page. For decades the airport was also home to Bar Harbor Airlines, a commuter carrier founded here in 1943 that grew into one of the largest regional airlines in the Northeast. Today BHB is the air gateway for Acadia National Park, the only airport on the Down East coast with scheduled airline service, and a busy summer base for private aviation.

Airlines Operating from BHB

Cape Air provides year round scheduled service under the federal EAS subsidy program, using nine seat twin engine aircraft. Flights are sold under Cape Air's own code or as JetBlue codeshare flights, and through interline agreements travelers can connect onward with Delta, United and American at Boston. In past summers the airport has also hosted a second seasonal carrier, and the airport authority continues to pursue added summer capacity. Private jet and charter operators are handled by the full service FBO at 112 Caruso Drive.

Domestic Destinations

Boston Logan International is the sole scheduled destination, with Cape Air flying several round trips a day in summer and a reduced schedule through the winter. The flight takes roughly eighty minutes and arrives at Logan Terminal C, where JetBlue connections depart from the same terminal. Private flights regularly link BHB with Teterboro, Westchester, Nantucket, Martha's Vineyard, Palm Beach and Charleston during the summer season.

Terminal Information

BHB has a single story passenger terminal with one check in counter area, one TSA screening lane, a compact boarding lounge and a baggage area where bags are brought in by hand. Hertz operates year round from a counter inside the building and Enterprise operates seasonally from May through October. There are vending machines and restrooms but no restaurant, so arriving passengers who want a meal usually head straight for Ellsworth or Bar Harbor. Cell signal is good across the field and the lots.

Passenger Traffic

BHB passed the 10,000 enplanement mark in both 2023 and 2024, a threshold that unlocks additional federal airport improvement funding. Cape Air carried about 9,700 of the 10,478 passengers who boarded in 2023, with the balance made up of charters. Traffic is sharply seasonal: July and August account for a large share of annual boardings, while January and February see only a handful of daily departures. Historical monthly figures are published by the Bureau of Transportation Statistics on its TranStats airport data portal.

Parking Overview

Parking at BHB is free for airport patrons, a rarity among commercial airports in New England. Two lots sit beside the terminal, and the full rules are posted on the airport's parking page.

Short Term Lot

The short term lot is closest to the terminal doors and allows stays of up to 14 days. It fills quickly on summer weekends when cruise passengers and second home owners fly out at the same time.

Long Term Lot

The long term lot is a short walk farther from the building and permits stays of up to 60 days, which suits seasonal residents who fly out for the winter.

Overstay Policy

Vehicles left beyond 60 days may be towed. Travelers who need a longer stay are asked to contact the airport manager in advance.

Extended Parking Contact

Call the airport office at +1 207-667-7329 to arrange an extended stay before leaving the vehicle.

Pick Up and Drop Off Guidance

The curb in front of the terminal is a short loop road off Caruso Drive. Drop offs are quick: a chauffeur pulls to the door, unloads bags, and the check in counter is a few steps inside. For pickups, our chauffeurs wait in the short term lot with the vehicle visible from the terminal exit and walk in to meet you at baggage. FBO passengers are met at the Modern Aviation building at 112 Caruso Drive, directly across from the airline terminal.

Ground Transportation Options

The airport lists six local taxi companies and recommends booking ahead because cabs do not wait at the terminal between flights. The free Island Explorer bus connects the airport with Bar Harbor and other Mount Desert Island stops from late June through Indigenous Peoples Day, though it runs on a fixed timetable and carries limited luggage. Rideshare coverage in Trenton is thin, especially after the last Cape Air arrival of the evening. The airport's own ground transportation listing gives current phone numbers for each operator.

Tips for Arriving Passengers

  • Check your Cape Air flight status before leaving the hotel, since coastal fog can delay morning departures from Trenton
  • Arrive about 60 minutes before departure; the single screening lane moves quickly but the aircraft doors close on time
  • Carry a REAL ID compliant license or passport, and review current rules on the TSA security screening page before you fly
  • Pack liquids and camping fuel according to airline limits, because nine seat aircraft have strict weight and cabin rules
  • Expect cooler temperatures on the coast than inland Maine; the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's marine forecasts are a good guide to fog and wind on Frenchman Bay
  • Book your chauffeur before you land so the car is already staged when the propellers stop

Why a Prebooked Chauffeur Is Often Easier Than a Taxi or Rideshare at BHB?

BHB is small enough that on demand transport simply does not sit on the curb. Taxis respond by phone from Ellsworth or Bar Harbor and can take thirty minutes to arrive in July, and rideshare drivers are few and far between after dark. A prebooked chauffeur removes that uncertainty: the car is confirmed in advance, the rate is fixed, the chauffeur tracks the flight, and the vehicle has room for the luggage, strollers and gear that a nine seat aircraft still manages to carry. For cruise guests, wedding parties and lab visitors on a schedule, that reliability is the reason Union Limousine is booked before the flight is.

Occasions We Serve from Hancock County Bar Harbor Airport

Cruise Passengers and Tender Pier Transfers

Bar Harbor is a major cruise call from May through October, and many guests fly into BHB to join or leave a ship. We run direct transfers between the terminal and the tender piers on West Street, and our Bar Harbor cruise terminal car service handles luggage heavy arrivals with SUVs and vans.

Weddings and Celebrations on Mount Desert Island

Island weddings bring families in on several different Cape Air flights across a weekend. We coordinate multi flight pickups, stage vehicles at the venue, and provide stretch limousines and party buses for the ceremony day itself.

Corporate, Research and University Travel

The Jackson Laboratory, MDI Biological Laboratory and College of the Atlantic bring scientists, trustees and visiting faculty through BHB year round. Our Sprinter vans and sedans are booked by travel coordinators who need an invoice, a confirmed vehicle and a chauffeur who knows the campus entrances in the dark. The same BHB airport car service handles hospital and medical transfers to Ellsworth and Bangor with wheelchair accessible vehicles on request.

Group Charters Across Maine

For larger parties that need to move together, our Sprinter van service in Maine and charter buses carry conference groups, school trips and family reunions from BHB to lodges, camps and conference centers across the state.
