Sanford Seacoast Regional (SFM) Airport Limo Service
Wedding parties, executives and families flying into southern Maine ride from SFM in sedans, SUVs, Sprinter vans and coaches. Reserve Sanford Seacoast Regional (SFM) Airport Limo Service for any size.

Stretch Limo Service to and from Sanford Seacoast Regional (SFM) Airport
Private flights into Sanford land at the busiest airfield in Maine, yet the arrival itself stays quiet: a short taxi to the Southern Maine Aviation ramp, a few steps through the FBO lounge, and a chauffeur holding the door of a polished black vehicle. Our Maine airport limo service is built around that moment. We stage the car before wheels touch Runway 7/25, confirm the tail number with the line crew, load luggage while you finish your coffee, and head out toward Kennebunkport, Ogunquit, Portland or anywhere in York County and beyond.
Sanford Seacoast Regional sits four miles southeast of downtown Sanford at 199 Airport Road, close to Route 109 and a straight run to the Maine Turnpike at Wells. Executives flying into the Seacoast for meetings in Portsmouth, families opening summer homes on Mousam Lake, wedding parties bound for Kennebunkport inns and corporate groups arriving by charter all use the same ramp. Union Limousine covers every one of those itineraries with sedans, SUVs, stretch limousines, Sprinter vans, party buses and coaches, all driven by chauffeurs who know the back roads of southern Maine as well as they know the turnpike.
Why Travelers in Maine Choose Our SFM Limo Service?
A general aviation airport rewards preparation. There is no taxi rank, no rideshare lot and no shuttle loop at SFM, so the difference between a smooth arrival and a frustrating one comes down to whether a vehicle was arranged ahead of time. Our limo service handles the details that matter at a private field:
- Tail number tracking: we watch your aircraft in real time, so a delayed slot at Teterboro or an early arrival from Palm Beach changes nothing for you.
- Planeside or lounge greeting: your chauffeur meets you inside the Southern Maine Aviation building or, with FBO permission, at the aircraft steps.
- Luggage and gear handled: golf bags for Cape Arundel, gear for a Sunday River weekend, dog crates, coolers of lobster, strollers; everything goes in the vehicle while you stretch your legs.
- Fixed transfer pricing: the rate quoted for SFM to Kennebunkport or SFM to Boston is the rate charged, with gratuity, tolls and wait time spelled out in advance.
- Coverage beyond the county: Portland, Portsmouth, Manchester, Boston Logan and the New Hampshire lakes are all routine runs for our chauffeurs.
- Discreet, licensed, insured: commercially insured vehicles and chauffeurs who understand that what is said in the back seat stays there.

History and Importance of SFM
The field began in the 1930s as a single airstrip and hangar built by Sanford Mills, the textile company that shaped the town. The United States Navy expanded it in 1942 and commissioned Naval Auxiliary Air Facility Sanford in April 1943 as a satellite of Naval Air Station Brunswick; torpedo and fighter squadrons trained here in 1944 before the Navy departed in February 1946. After the war Sanford became an unlikely center of amphibious aircraft manufacturing. Colonial Aircraft started building the Skimmer here in 1955, Lake Aircraft followed with the Buccaneer and the Renegade, and production continued in Sanford until 1994. In 1988 and 1989 pilots Robert Mann and Peter Foster flew a string of record setting flights from this runway, pushing a piston amphibian to 27,300 feet.
Today the airport covers 1,115 acres under City of Sanford ownership. Its 6,389 foot Runway 7/25 carries an ILS approach and high intensity lighting, while the 4,999 foot crosswind Runway 14/32 handles lighter traffic. Over 100 hangars, a LifeFlight of Maine helicopter base, two flight schools and one of the largest solar arrays on any airport in the world share the property. Measured by takeoffs and landings, Sanford is the busiest airport in Maine, ahead of both Portland and Bangor, and the city formally marked that ranking in December 2024.
Airlines and Operators at SFM
No scheduled passenger airline flies from Sanford Seacoast Regional. The traffic is corporate jets, turboprops, air taxi operators, helicopters and flight training aircraft. Southern Maine Aviation runs the fixed base operation and handles arriving business aircraft from light jets up to super midsize cabins. Pine Tree Helicopters trains rotary pilots on the field, LifeFlight of Maine bases an air ambulance here, and charter brokers routinely route Citation, Phenom, Challenger, Learjet and King Air flights into SFM for clients heading to the southern Maine coast.
Domestic Destinations
Because SFM is a private aviation field, destinations are set by the passenger instead of a timetable. Common city pairs we see on the ramp include Teterboro and Westchester in the New York area, Boston Logan and Hanscom, Philadelphia, Washington Dulles, Palm Beach, Naples, Charlotte, Chicago Executive and Nashville. Travelers who need a commercial flight usually connect through Portland International Jetport, about 35 miles northeast, Portsmouth International at Pease, about 30 miles south, or Boston Logan, roughly 85 miles down Interstate 95. We run all three connections every day of the week.
Terminal Information
There is no airline terminal in the conventional sense. Arriving passengers use the Southern Maine Aviation FBO building on the east side of the field, which includes a passenger lounge, free WiFi, computer access, restrooms, crew facilities and Pilots Cove Café, a full service restaurant that has become a destination for local pilots and families alike. Southern Maine Aviation has also built a new flight training center on the west side of the airport. Pickups for business and leisure arrivals happen at the east FBO entrance, a short walk from where aircraft park on the ramp.
Passenger Traffic
The FAA recorded 36,738 aircraft operations at SFM in 2019, an average of about 101 movements each day, with general aviation making up 95 percent of the total and air taxi flights about 4 percent. The field hosted 131 based aircraft that year, including 105 single engine airplanes, nine twins, two jets, eleven helicopters and three gliders. Activity has climbed since then; training flights, charter arrivals and medical helicopter missions pushed Sanford past Portland Jetport in total movements, which is why the airport now carries the title of the busiest in Maine.
Parking Overview
Vehicle parking at Sanford Seacoast Regional is free and located directly in front of the FBO building, with ample space even on summer weekends. For pilots, Southern Maine Aviation charges overnight aircraft parking by type under a City of Sanford fee schedule, waives one night for piston aircraft that purchase fuel and collects no landing fees. Hangar space for transient jets and turboprops is limited, so crews often park on the ramp. None of this affects a chauffeured arrival: your vehicle waits in the short term area beside the lounge, and there is no garage, no shuttle and no parking charge for the pickup.
Pick Up and Drop Off Guidance
Arrivals: give us your tail number and estimated arrival time. Your chauffeur arrives 20 minutes early, checks in with the Southern Maine Aviation front desk and waits in the lounge with a name sign, or at the aircraft when the FBO permits ramp access. Luggage goes straight from the baggage compartment to the vehicle. Departures: for a morning flight out of SFM we recommend arriving 30 to 45 minutes before the scheduled departure, since there is no security line. We drop you at the FBO door, and your pilots will already have the aircraft fueled and preflighted.
Ground Transportation Options
Public transit does not serve the airport. Southern Maine Aviation lists two rental car agencies, Hertz and Avis, which deliver vehicles to the FBO with advance notice, plus a single local taxi operator and an occasional crew car for pilots making a quick run into town, all detailed on its FBO services page. Rideshare apps show few drivers in Sanford, particularly early in the morning or late at night. A prebooked chauffeur is the only option that guarantees a vehicle, a driver and a departure time.
Tips for Arriving Passengers
- Share your itinerary early. Tail number, origin and passenger count let us plan vehicle size and staging.
- Pack for the coast. Ocean breezes in Kennebunkport and Ogunquit run several degrees cooler than Sanford, even in July.
- Build in travel time to Boston. The Maine Turnpike and Interstate 95 through New Hampshire can add 30 minutes on summer Fridays and Sundays.
- Plan a first meal. Pilots Cove Café at the FBO is a favorite first stop in Maine, and the drive to the coast passes farm stands and lobster pounds.
- Confirm contact details. Cell service is reliable at the field, but save your chauffeur's number before you taxi in.
Why a Prebooked Chauffeur Beats Taxis and Rideshare at SFM
At a private airport the question is availability. One taxi company serves Sanford, rideshare drivers are scarce, and both treat your landing as a surprise. A Union Limousine chauffeur treats it as an appointment: the vehicle is positioned before the aircraft lands, the driver already knows the destination, the car seats or extra luggage space are in place, and the fare is fixed. For a flight that cost thousands to charter, the last mile should match the standard set in the air.
Where We Drive From Sanford Seacoast Regional?
Sanford, Springvale and Alfred
Sanford itself is a mill city reinvented, with a revived downtown along Main Street, summer baseball at Goodall Park and Number One Pond at the city center. Springvale, its northern village, holds the Nasson Community Center and a cluster of antique shops. Ten minutes north, Alfred is the shire town of York County, home to the courthouse, the Alfred Shaker Museum and the county offices on Kennebunk Road. We provide limo service in Maine for legal teams and government visitors at the Alfred courthouse as well as transfers to Sanford's industrial parks and Southern Maine Health Care.
Kennebunkport, Wells and Ogunquit
The coast is 25 to 35 minutes from the ramp. Kennebunkport brings Dock Square, Walker's Point, Cape Arundel Golf Club and a cluster of inns that host weddings nearly every weekend from May through October. Wells offers seven miles of beach and the Wells Reserve at Laudholm. Ogunquit, 25 miles south, is the summer theater capital of New England, and show nights at the Ogunquit Playhouse on Main Street are among the most common evening bookings from SFM; a chauffeur waits during the performance and returns you to your inn or straight back to the aircraft.
Biddeford, Saco, Old Orchard Beach and Portland
Northeast along Route 111 and the turnpike, Biddeford has turned its riverfront mills into restaurants and offices, Saco adds Funtown Splashtown and Ferry Beach, and Old Orchard Beach runs its pier and amusement park through the summer. Portland is about 45 minutes away for Old Port dinners, Maine Medical Center appointments or a commercial connection at the Jetport. Many SFM arrivals continue to Freeport, Brunswick and Boothbay Harbor as well.
Kittery, York and the New Hampshire Seacoast
Heading south, York offers Nubble Lighthouse and Long Sands Beach, Kittery is the outlet shopping gateway at the state line, and Portsmouth, New Hampshire is 40 minutes away with its waterfront restaurants and the offices at Pease International Tradeport. Our Maine airport chauffeur service regularly carries executives from SFM to Pease, Dover, Durham and the Hampton beaches, with hourly service available when the day involves several stops.

Popular Reasons to Book SFM Limo Service
Corporate and Executive Travel
Pratt & Whitney in North Berwick, the Pease Tradeport, Portland's financial district and the biotech cluster around Portsmouth all draw business aircraft into Sanford. We provide meet and greet, WiFi in the larger vehicles, and Union Limousine chauffeurs who stay quiet while you take calls. Our SFM airport car service is also available for crew transportation and hotel runs for pilots on overnight layovers.
Weddings and Coastal Celebrations
Kennebunkport, Cape Neddick and Ogunquit host hundreds of weddings each season, and many couples and guests fly privately into SFM. We coordinate arrivals across several aircraft, shuttle guests between inns and venues, and provide a stretch limousine or an executive sedan for the couple on the day itself.
Group Charters and Retreats
Companies and families often arrive on a single charter and need one vehicle for the whole party. Our Maine airport Sprinter van service and coach options keep the group together from the ramp to the lodge, with the same chauffeur assigned for the return trip.
