Charles B. Wheeler Downtown (MKC) Airport Limo Service
Wedding parties, sports teams and corporate groups book Charles B. Wheeler Downtown (MKC) Airport limo service for stretch limos, Sprinter vans and coaches that stage beside the FBO and leave on time.

Stretch Limo Service to and from Charles B. Wheeler Downtown (MKC) Airport
Private jet arrivals, corporate shuttles and charter flights into Kansas City's Downtown Airport deserve a ground transfer that keeps pace with the airfield itself. Union Limousine provides Charles B. Wheeler Downtown (MKC) Airport limo service for executives, families and visiting groups across Missouri, MO, with chauffeurs who meet you steps from the FBO door. Our Missouri airport limo service covers MKC, Kansas City International and every regional field in between, so one booking desk handles your whole itinerary.
MKC sits on a tight bend of the Missouri River directly across from the downtown skyline. The drive to an office tower in the Loop takes about five minutes, which means a chauffeur who shows up ten minutes late has thrown away the single biggest reason you chose this airport. We stage vehicles near Richards Road ahead of your estimated arrival and follow every tail number, so the car is idling outside the terminal the moment your aircraft shuts down.
Why Missouri Travelers Choose Us at MKC?
Business aviation runs on precision, and passengers who fly privately expect the same standard once the wheels touch concrete. Every Union Limousine booking at the Downtown Airport is built around the realities of general aviation: shifting departure slots, last minute passenger changes and the need for discretion. Here is what we bring to each MKC transfer:
- Lobby and ramp side meet and greet at Signature Aviation, Atlantic Aviation and the General Aviation Terminal
- Live flight following for charter, fractional and privately owned aircraft
- Flat quotes for Kansas City, Johnson County and statewide Missouri runs
- Chauffeurs who are licensed, background checked and trained in executive protocol
- 24 hour dispatch that mirrors the airport's 24 hour control tower
- Child seats, extra luggage capacity and multi stop routing on request
Chauffeurs Who Know the Downtown Airport
There is no central passenger terminal at MKC. Each fixed base operator has its own entrance, its own lounge and its own ramp, and the right door depends on which FBO your flight department selected. Our chauffeurs learn these details before the trip begins, confirm the handling agent with your pilot or dispatcher, and park where your luggage can be loaded without a cart ride across the lot. For arrivals clearing U.S. Customs on the field, we hold position until the inspection is finished and never bill you for the paperwork.
Flight Following for Private and Charter Arrivals
Private schedules move. A departure from Teterboro or Dallas Love can slip forty minutes because of a late passenger or a weather hold, and a rideshare driver who was summoned too early will simply leave. We monitor your aircraft from wheels up, adjust the chauffeur's staging time automatically and send you a text with the vehicle description and plate number while you are still on descent into Kansas City.
Our Fleet for MKC Airport Transfers
The Downtown Airport handles everything from a two seat trainer to a long range business jet, and our fleet is sized the same way. Choose the vehicle that fits your passenger count, luggage load and the kind of impression you want to make when the door opens.
Executive Cars
Sedans (Up to 3 Passengers)
Black luxury sedans are the standard choice for a solo executive or a pair of colleagues heading from MKC to a downtown board meeting, a Crossroads client lunch or a hotel on the Country Club Plaza. Two full size suitcases fit in the trunk, and the cabin stays quiet enough for a conference call on the Broadway Bridge.
SUVs (Up to 6 Passengers)
Full size luxury SUVs carry up to six passengers with room left over for golf bags, sample cases or a week of luggage. Flight crews, family groups and executive teams who want to ride together from the FBO to Overland Park, Lee's Summit or Liberty choose this vehicle most often.
Stretch and Group Vehicles
Stretch Limousines (Up to 20 Passengers)
Stretch limousines seat anywhere from eight to twenty guests depending on the model, making them a natural fit for wedding parties flying in for a Union Station ceremony, bachelor groups bound for the Power and Light District, or a milestone birthday that starts the moment the jet door opens.
Sprinter Vans (Up to 14 Passengers)
Executive Sprinter vans hold up to fourteen passengers in forward facing leather seating with standing headroom. Corporate roadshow teams, visiting medical groups and touring musicians use them for MKC transfers because the whole party and all of its gear travel in one vehicle with a single chauffeur to coordinate.
Party Buses (Up to 30 Passengers)
Party buses carry up to thirty passengers with wraparound seating, sound systems and bar areas. They work well for Chiefs tailgates at Arrowhead, Sporting KC matches, Royals games at Kauffman Stadium and private celebrations that begin at the airport and end somewhere in the Westport bar district.
Charter Coaches
Mini Charter Buses (Up to 35 Passengers)
Mini charter buses seat up to thirty five passengers with undercarriage luggage bays. They are the right call for a company offsite arriving on a chartered turboprop, a collegiate athletic team or a church group flying into MKC for a convention at the Kansas City Convention Center.
Full Size Charter Buses (Up to 56 Passengers)
Full size motorcoaches carry up to fifty six passengers with restrooms, climate control, reclining seats and power outlets. Large charter flights, incentive trips and multi day tours that start at the Downtown Airport and continue to Branson, Columbia or St. Louis rely on this vehicle for the long haul.
Where We Take You From the Downtown Airport?
The airport's location puts the entire metro within a short drive. Downtown offices, the Crossroads Arts District, the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts and the River Market are all under ten minutes away. Our Missouri limo service covers the whole state, with regular runs to Jefferson City, Columbia, Springfield and the Lake of the Ozarks, while cross border runs to Overland Park, Leawood and Olathe in Johnson County, Kansas are handled every day. Clients who need an hourly chauffeur for a full day of meetings book our Missouri airport chauffeur service, and groups of eight to fourteen find that our Missouri airport Sprinter van service is the most practical way to leave the FBO together.
Popular Trips From MKC
Corporate Travel Across Kansas City
The Downtown Airport exists for business aviation, and most of our MKC bookings are corporate. Typical routes include the headquarters of Cerner's successor Oracle Health in North Kansas City, Hallmark and H&R Block downtown, Garmin in Olathe, and the Sprint campus in Overland Park now occupied by T Mobile. We also run frequent transfers to the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City and the law firms clustered along Grand Boulevard.
Roadshows and Multi Stop Days
Investor roadshows and site visits rarely follow a tidy schedule. A chauffeur booked by the hour stays with your team from the FBO lobby through each meeting and back to the ramp, holding luggage and presentation materials in the vehicle so nothing is left in a conference room.
Game Day and Event Transfers
Private flights spike around home games at Arrowhead and Kauffman Stadium, concerts at the downtown arena and matches at CPKC Stadium on the Berkley Riverfront. We reserve stadium approved drop points in advance and coordinate the return pickup so you are back at MKC for your filed departure time.
Charles B. Wheeler Downtown (MKC) Airport Information
Address: 900 Richards Rd, Kansas City, MO 64116, United States. Phone: +1 816 859 7601. Official website: https://www.flymkc.com/. Airport code: MKC (ICAO KMKC). Owned and operated by the Kansas City Aviation Department, a department of the City of Kansas City, Missouri.
Brief History and Importance of the Airport
Charles Lindbergh dedicated the field on August 17, 1927, less than three months after his Atlantic crossing, and it opened as Kansas City Municipal Airport on a river peninsula that had earlier been called New Richards Field. Trans World Airlines moved its headquarters here in 1931, and the 1932 TWA building still stands as the Signature Aviation terminal. The TWA Museum at 10 Richards Road preserves that era inside the same building, with Howard Hughes memorabilia, uniforms and flight simulators. Commercial airlines left for Kansas City International in 1972, the city renamed the field Kansas City Downtown Airport in 1977, and on the 75th anniversary in August 2002 it was rededicated for Charles B. Wheeler, the mayor who guided both the opening of KCI and the Downtown Airport's shift to general aviation. A 2025 City Council vote added the name Wheeler Field. Today the FAA classifies MKC as a general aviation reliever, and a 2023 to 2024 economic impact study credited the airport with nearly 2,800 jobs, about $251 million in payroll and over $625 million in regional economic output.
Airlines Operating From MKC
No scheduled passenger airline serves the Downtown Airport. Traffic consists of corporate flight departments, on demand charter operators, fractional ownership programs, air taxi services, flight schools, air cargo carriers, medical flights and a small share of military movements. Two fixed base operators handle arriving aircraft: Signature Aviation, which sells Jet A and 100LL, and Atlantic Aviation, which sells Jet A. The city's General Aviation Terminal offers 24 hour self serve 100LL for piston pilots. U.S. Customs and Border Protection staffs the field for international arrivals Monday through Friday from 8 am to 8 pm and on weekends from 11 am to 8 pm.
Domestic Destinations
Because every flight is private or chartered, MKC connects to any airport in the country that can accept your aircraft. The most common city pairs from the Downtown Airport are Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Houston, Minneapolis, St. Louis, Omaha, Nashville, Atlanta and the New York business airports at Teterboro and Westchester County. Light jets reach the coasts nonstop, and turboprops cover Wichita, Des Moines, Springfield and Columbia in under an hour.
Terminal Information
MKC covers 695 acres in Clay County and operates around the clock with a 24 hour control tower and a Category I instrument landing system. Runway 1/19 measures 6,827 by 150 feet of grooved concrete with an engineered arresting system at both ends, and Runway 4/22 measures 5,050 by 100 feet of grooved asphalt. The airport overview from the Kansas City Aviation Department lists three passenger facilities: the Signature Aviation terminal in the historic TWA headquarters, the Atlantic Aviation terminal and the General Aviation Terminal beside the self fueling station. Atlantic Aviation operates from the former Hangar 10 complex at 1001 NW Lou Holland Drive, Signature Aviation answers at 10 NW Richards Road, and in late 2025 the Aviation Department selected Airside Innovation Missouri to build a new 15,000 square foot terminal with hangar and office space on the airport's last 20 developable acres.
Passenger Traffic
The airport is rated for up to 700 aircraft operations a day, and FAA records list roughly 115,000 operations a year with about 176 based aircraft, which places MKC among the busiest airfields in Missouri. General aviation makes up most of that count, air taxi and charter flights contribute about one fifth, and military traffic accounts for a small remainder. Volume climbs sharply around major sporting events, the FIFA World Cup matches hosted in Kansas City and the annual convention calendar downtown.
Parking Overview
There is no large public garage at MKC like the ones at Kansas City International. Each fixed base operator maintains customer parking beside its terminal for pilots, passengers and visitors, and the General Aviation Terminal has a small surface lot off Lou Holland Drive. Long term parking for the days you are away is arranged through your FBO, and overnight vehicles should be registered at the front desk. A chauffeured transfer removes the parking question entirely, since you leave from the curb and return to the curb.
Pick Up and Drop Off Guidance
Approach the airport from downtown by crossing the Broadway Bridge on MO 169, or from the north on Interstate 29 and Interstate 35 via the Richards Road exits. Signature Aviation is the first building at 10 NW Richards Road near the airport entrance, Atlantic Aviation is farther along the ramp frontage at 1001 NW Lou Holland Drive, and the General Aviation Terminal, Airshare and Duncan Aviation are spaced along the same drive. Give your chauffeur the FBO name and tail number, and we will meet you inside the lobby or, with FBO approval, directly at the aircraft on the ramp. Departing passengers are dropped at the FBO door with luggage handed to the line crew.
Ground Transportation Options
Options at MKC are limited compared with a commercial airport. There are no taxi queues or rideshare lots, so drivers must be called and often decline the short trip. GO Rentals keeps a counter inside the Signature Aviation terminal, and Atlantic Aviation arranges rental cars on request. RideKC buses run along North Broadway a short walk from the field, and the free KC Streetcar Riverfront Extension, which opened in May 2026, now reaches Berkley Riverfront on the opposite bank of the river before continuing south through the River Market, downtown and the Crossroads to UMKC. For most private flyers the practical choice is a prebooked chauffeur waiting at the FBO.
Tips for Arriving Passengers
Confirm your handling FBO before departure, because the terminals are separate buildings with separate entrances. International arrivals should file customs paperwork early to fit the posted inspection hours. Keep an eye on river stage warnings in spring, since the field occupies a flood plain and road closures on Richards Road occasionally reroute ground traffic. If you have time to spare, the Riverfront Heritage Trail managed by Port KC runs along the water a few minutes from the ramp, and the City Market in the River Market district is one bridge away. Pack a coat from November through March, because the open ramp beside the river catches the wind.
Why Prebooked Chauffeur Service Wins at MKC?
Taxis and rideshare apps are built around high volume airports with staffed stands and fixed pickup zones. The Downtown Airport has neither, so a passenger who opens an app on the ramp typically waits fifteen to twenty minutes for a driver who may cancel once the short fare appears. A prebooked chauffeur from Union Limousine is already parked at the correct FBO when your aircraft taxis in, knows which lounge you will walk through, has your luggage count in advance and holds a fixed rate that does not surge during a Chiefs game or a convention weekend. For executives billing travel to a client or an investor group, a single invoice with a named chauffeur also simplifies expense reporting.

Frequently Asked Questions
Explore our FAQs to learn more about our luxury fleet, professional chauffeurs, airport transfers, reservations, and private transportation services designed for a comfortable and seamless travel experience.
We meet you at whichever fixed base operator your flight department selected, whether that is Signature Aviation, Atlantic Aviation or the General Aviation Terminal. Tell us the FBO and tail number at booking, and the chauffeur confirms the location with the handling agent before your aircraft arrives.
Twenty four hours of notice is ideal, and bookings made a week ahead secure larger vehicles such as Sprinter vans and coaches during busy event weekends. Same day requests are accepted when a vehicle is available, so call dispatch if your charter was arranged at short notice.
Yes. Our dispatch team follows your aircraft from wheels up using the tail number you provide, adjusts the chauffeur's staging time when the ETA changes and sends you a text with the vehicle details while you are still airborne.
Most trips from the FBO to the central business district take five to ten minutes across the Broadway Bridge. The Country Club Plaza is about fifteen minutes away, Overland Park is roughly twenty five minutes and Arrowhead Stadium is around twenty minutes depending on traffic.
We do. Cross border transfers from the Downtown Airport to Overland Park, Leawood, Olathe, Lenexa and the rest of Johnson County are quoted as flat rates, so the fare is fixed before you take off regardless of highway conditions on Interstate 35.
No. Because we follow your flight in real time, the chauffeur's arrival is tied to your actual landing. Delays caused by weather holds, late passengers or air traffic control do not generate waiting charges on airport pickups.
In most cases, yes. Signature Aviation and Atlantic Aviation allow approved ground vehicles onto the ramp for group loading when the request is made in advance. We coordinate the permission with the FBO so your group and its luggage move from the aircraft door to the vehicle in one step.
Yes. Passengers who arrive on a commercial flight at Kansas City International and continue on a private aircraft from the Downtown Airport, or the reverse, book a direct transfer that takes about twenty five minutes on Interstate 29.
Weather diversions to Kansas City International, Johnson County Executive or New Century are handled without penalty. Dispatch sees the diversion through flight tracking, reroutes your chauffeur to the new airport and sends you an updated pickup location by text.
Yes. Rear facing infant seats, forward facing toddler seats and booster seats can be installed in any sedan, SUV or Sprinter van. Request them when you reserve so the chauffeur has the correct seat fitted and inspected before leaving for the airport.
