What we offer

Sidney Richland Municipal (SDY) Airport Limo Service

Executives, oilfield teams and wedding parties rely on our Sidney Richland Municipal (SDY) Airport limo service for vehicles up to 56 seats, early morning departures and calm rides in eastern Montana.

Stretch Limo Service to and from Sidney Richland Municipal (SDY) Airport

Cape Air's Tecnam Travellers touch down at Sidney Richland Municipal (SDY) Airport five times a day, and every one of those arrivals carries someone who needs a dependable ride into Sidney, out to a Bakken well site, or across the state line into Williston. We provide that ride. Our Sidney Richland Municipal (SDY) Airport limo service pairs licensed chauffeurs with late model sedans, SUVs, Sprinter vans and coaches, and it forms part of a statewide Montana airport limo service that covers every commercial terminal from Kalispell to Sidney. Union Limousine has chauffeured travelers since 1997, and that experience shows the moment your flight is tracked, your bags are loaded, and your door is held open on Airport Road.

Sidney sits where the Yellowstone River valley meets the oil patch, roughly 45 miles from Williston and 50 miles from Glendive, and the airfield itself is barely a mile west of downtown. That geography makes SDY a practical gateway for energy executives, sugar beet buyers, medical travelers connecting through Billings, and families coming home for the Richland County Fair. Whatever brought you to northeastern Montana, we meet you at the terminal, confirm your destination, and drive at a fixed rate agreed before the wheels turn.

Why Travelers Across Montana, MT Choose Our SDY Airport Limo Service?

Small airports reward preparation. There is one terminal door, one airline counter and a short curb at SDY, so a chauffeur who is already parked and watching the Cape Air tracker makes the difference between a calm arrival and a scramble for a ride on a Sunday evening. Here is what every SDY booking includes:

  • Flight tracking on each Cape Air leg from Billings, so a late departure out of BIL moves your pickup time automatically
  • Fixed, all inclusive pricing quoted at booking, with gratuity and waiting time shown up front
  • Chauffeurs who know Montana Highway 16, Highway 200 and the gravel county roads out to rural well pads
  • Vehicles detailed and inspected before each run, with bottled water and phone charging on board
  • 24 hour dispatch across Montana, MT for 4 am oilfield crew changes and midnight medical returns
  • One reservation for the whole trip: an SDY pickup, a stop in Sidney, and a run on to Williston Basin International (XWA) if your itinerary calls for it

Our Montana limo service runs on the same standards in Sidney as it does in Bozeman or Billings. Union Limousine chauffeurs are background checked, drug tested and trained for winter driving, which matters on a January morning when the wind chill at SDY reads well below zero and Highway 16 has drifted overnight.

Our SDY Airport Limo Fleet

Choose a vehicle by headcount and luggage, and we match it to your Cape Air arrival. Every option below is available for SDY pickups, drop offs and longer charters across Montana.

Sedans (Up to 3 Passengers)

A black sedan is the right call for a single executive flying in from Billings for a day at the Sidney Sugars plant or a meeting at the Richland County Courthouse. Three passengers ride with two large suitcases, and the quiet cabin doubles as a mobile office on the way to Williston.

SUVs (Up to 6 Passengers)

Full size SUVs carry six passengers with room for duffels, tool bags and winter gear. They are the vehicle of choice for field supervisors heading to the Bakken, hunting parties bound for the Lower Yellowstone, and families who want extra ground clearance on county roads after a snowfall.

Stretch Limousines (Up to 20 Passengers)

Stretch limousines seat up to 20 for weddings at the Richland County Event Center, prom nights in Sidney and Fairview, anniversary dinners, and milestone celebrations that start the moment the Cape Air door opens. Leather seating, mood lighting and a stocked bar area come standard.

Sprinter Vans (Up to 14 Passengers)

Sprinter vans move up to 14 passengers with standing headroom and a rear luggage bay, which makes them ideal for crew rotations, corporate site visits and extended family reunions. Executive configurations add captain's chairs, tables and Wi Fi for working runs between SDY, Watford City and Williston.

Party Buses (Up to 30 Passengers)

Party buses seat up to 30 and bring the celebration with them: perimeter seating, sound systems, LED lighting and coolers. They are popular for bachelor and bachelorette weekends, Sidney Country Club outings, and brewery runs that begin with an airport pickup.

Mini Charter Buses (Up to 35 Passengers)

Mini charter buses handle up to 35 passengers with overhead racks and under floor luggage space. Agricultural tour groups, church delegations and visiting sports teams use them for airport transfers and day trips to Fort Union Trading Post or Theodore Roosevelt National Park.

Full Size Charter Buses (Up to 56 Passengers)

Full size motorcoaches carry up to 56 passengers with restrooms, reclining seats, climate control and power outlets. Book one for conference shuttles, multi day oilfield training programs, or a statewide charter that starts at SDY and ends in Billings, Bozeman or Great Falls.

Where We Drive From SDY Airport?

Richland County is big, open country, and most SDY passengers have a second leg to cover after the flight. These are the runs our chauffeurs make most often.

Sidney, Fairview, Savage and Lambert

The airport to downtown Sidney takes about five minutes, which puts Sidney Health Center, the MonDak Heritage Center, the courthouse and the hotels along South Central Avenue within easy reach. We continue to Fairview on the North Dakota line, south to Savage along the Yellowstone, and west to Lambert for the farming families and agribusiness buyers who fly in through Billings.

Into the Bakken: Williston, Watford City and Fort Union

Highway 16 and Highway 200 carry a steady stream of oilfield traffic east toward Williston Basin International Airport, Williston itself and Watford City. Our chauffeurs run those corridors daily, and crews that need a vehicle for the whole rotation book our Montana airport Sprinter van service for the week. On the way, Fort Union Trading Post National Historic Site, Fort Buford and the Missouri Yellowstone Confluence Interpretive Center make rewarding stops for visitors with an afternoon to spare.

Glendive, Billings and Statewide Charters

South on Highway 16, Glendive and its badlands state park are about an hour away, and Interstate 94 then opens the road to Miles City and Billings. When Cape Air is sold out or a schedule shifts, many travelers choose a chauffeured drive to Billings Logan International, and our Montana chauffeur service covers that 270 mile trip with a fixed rate, a rest stop in Miles City, and a direct drop at the BIL departures curb.

Sidney Richland Municipal (SDY) Airport Information

Sidney Richland Municipal (SDY) Airport sits at 540 Airport Rd, Sidney, MT 59270, United States, a mile west of downtown off Montana Highway 16. The Cape Air reservations desk inside the terminal answers at +1 406 317 5360, and the airport manager's office handles general questions during business hours.

Brief History and Importance of the Airport

Scheduled flying in Sidney dates to September 1954, when Frontier Airlines began Douglas airliner service and later returned with Twin Otters that served the town until 1980. Big Sky Airlines took over through the 1980s and 1990s with Metroliner flights linking Sidney with Billings, Glendive and Williston, and for a period flew the route as a Northwest Airlink partner. Big Sky's bankruptcy ended service on March 8, 2008, after which Great Lakes Airlines in 2009 and then Silver Airways from 2011 to 2013 held the federal contract. The airport is owned by the Sidney Richland Airport Authority, covers 335 acres at an elevation of 1,985 feet, and operates two asphalt runways: 1/19 at 5,705 by 100 feet and 11/29 at 4,023 by 100 feet. A $4.4 million program completed in 2023 rebuilt runway pavement and expanded and remodeled the terminal. For the City of Sidney, the field is the only scheduled air link for a county of about 11,000 people and a critical lifeline for Guardian Flight and Sidney Health Center medical transport.

Airlines Operating From SDY

Cape Air is the only scheduled carrier at SDY, serving the airport since December 10, 2013 under the federal EAS program. The airline launched with nine seat Cessna 402C twins and has since upgraded the Montana routes to the Tecnam P2012 Traveller, a modern eleven seat twin with larger windows and more legroom. Five daily round trips connect Sidney with Billings seven days a week, and because Cape Air holds interline agreements with the major carriers at BIL, your bags can be checked through to a connecting jet. The reservations desk inside the terminal is staffed from 6:30 am to 7:30 pm.

Domestic Destinations

Every SDY departure flies to Billings Logan International Airport, a 243 mile hop that takes about 1 hour and 45 minutes. The first flight of the day leaves Sidney around 7:30 am and the last around 5:20 pm, which lines up with onward departures from Billings to Denver, Salt Lake City, Minneapolis, Seattle and Dallas Fort Worth. Earlier timetables included a stop in Glendive, and the Billings route remains the sole scheduled service today.

Terminal Information

SDY has a single level passenger terminal that was expanded and remodeled in 2023. Inside you will find the Cape Air counter, a bright waiting lounge, restrooms, and the Richland Car and Truck Rental office. Cape Air's small aircraft mean check in is quick, so arriving 45 minutes before departure is plenty, and full TSA screening happens at Billings before any connecting flight. The general aviation side hosts Richland Aviation and Sidney Air Services, both offering fuel, maintenance, charter flights and aerial application.

Passenger Traffic

SDY handled about 6,400 passengers on the Billings route between April 2025 and March 2026, and FAA counts show the field logged 11,555 aircraft operations with 34 based aircraft in its most recent survey. The 2010 calendar year recorded 3,659 enplanements as the Bakken boom gathered pace. General aviation accounts for the majority of movements, led by crop spraying, corporate turboprops supporting the oil and gas sector, and the air ambulance flights based on the field.

Parking Overview

Parking at SDY is a free surface lot directly in front of the terminal, with no shuttle and no pay station. Spaces are rarely full outside of holiday weeks, though winter travelers should expect to brush snow off a vehicle left for several days. Passengers who prefer not to leave a car in subzero weather simply book a chauffeured drop off and pickup and walk in from the curb.

Pick Up and Drop Off Guidance

The pickup curb runs along the front of the terminal, steps from the single public entrance. Our chauffeurs wait inside the lounge with a name sign, help with bags at the Cape Air baggage area, and walk you to a vehicle parked in the lot. For departures, we drop at the entrance 45 to 60 minutes before the flight, which leaves time for the counter and a coffee. Airport Road connects to Highway 16 in under a minute, and downtown Sidney is five minutes away.

Ground Transportation Options

Options at SDY are limited, which is exactly why advance arrangements matter. Richland Car and Truck Rental keeps a counter at the airport with sedans, pickups and SUVs. Richland County Transit operates a free dial a ride service on weekdays from 7 am to 6 pm covering Sidney, Fairview, Lambert and Savage, and the same agency sells Jefferson Lines bus tickets for longer trips. Taxi coverage in Sidney is thin, hotel shuttles run on request, and rideshare drivers are scarce enough that an app search often returns nothing at all.

Tips for Arriving Passengers

  • Montana runs on Mountain Time; set your watch before you cross from North Dakota, which is on Central Time east of the Yellowstone.
  • Dress for the season. Sidney summers top 90 degrees and winter wind chills drop far below zero, and the walk from the aircraft to the terminal is outdoors.
  • Cell coverage is reliable in town and patchy on county roads, so confirm your chauffeur's number before you leave Billings.
  • Give yourself an afternoon at the MonDak Heritage Center, whose recreated frontier Main Street and J.K. Ralston art collection explain the region better than any brochure.
  • The Sidney Area Chamber keeps a current list of things to do in Sidney, from Lower Yellowstone fishing to the Christmas Stroll after Thanksgiving.
  • Hunting season brings firearms through the terminal; declare them at the Cape Air counter in a locked hard case.

Why a Prebooked Chauffeur Beats Taxis and Rideshare at SDY?

At a large hub, a missed ride costs you ten minutes. At Sidney Richland Municipal, it can cost an evening. With no taxi rank and almost no rideshare presence, a passenger stepping off the last Cape Air flight has few fallbacks, and the hotel desks are already quiet. A prebooked chauffeur removes that risk entirely: your vehicle is on the lot before the aircraft is on final approach, the fare is already fixed, and the same chauffeur can carry you to Williston or Watford City without a second negotiation. Union Limousine also tracks the Billings departure, so a weather hold at BIL simply moves your pickup, with no waiting charges and no need to call anyone.

Book at least 24 hours ahead for a sedan or SUV and three to five days for Sprinter vans, stretch limousines and buses. Sidney is a small market with limited vehicles, and crew change weeks and the Richland County Fair fill the calendar quickly. Same day requests are welcome and we will confirm within minutes when a vehicle is open.

Yes. Every SDY pickup is tied to your Cape Air flight number, and dispatch monitors the departure out of Billings as well as the arrival in Sidney. If weather holds the aircraft at BIL, your chauffeur's arrival time shifts to match, and you will not pay waiting time for an airline delay.

Your chauffeur waits in the passenger lounge beside the Cape Air counter holding a sign with your name. The terminal has one public entrance, so you will see them as you walk in from the aircraft. They help with bags at the baggage area and escort you to the vehicle in the front lot.

Absolutely. Williston and Williston Basin International Airport are about 45 minutes east on Highway 16 and Highway 1804, and Watford City is roughly an hour and a half via Highway 200 and US 85. Both runs are quoted as a fixed rate, and the same chauffeur can wait and return you to Sidney the same day.

The 270 mile drive to Billings is priced as a flat transfer based on the vehicle you choose, with fuel, tolls and a rest stop in Miles City included. Request a quote with your date and passenger count and we will send a written figure. Many travelers book it when Cape Air is sold out or when a group of four or more makes the drive cheaper than separate tickets.

Yes. Our 14 passenger Sprinter vans are the most requested vehicle for crew rotations through Sidney. We can meet the morning Cape Air flight, load gear in the rear bay, and run directly to well sites near Fairview, Williston or Watford City, with weekly and monthly charter rates available for companies with recurring schedules.

No. Airline delays are covered by flight tracking, so your chauffeur adjusts without any waiting fee. The only time charges apply is when a passenger requests extra stops or additional waiting after the vehicle has arrived and the flight has already arrived at SDY.

Yes. Stretch limousines seating up to 20 are available for airport pickups of the wedding party, transfers between the ceremony and the Richland County Event Center or a local church, and late night returns to hotels. Decorations, champagne glasses and a red carpet rollout can be added when you reserve.

Yes. Rear facing infant seats, forward facing toddler seats and booster seats can be fitted in sedans, SUVs and Sprinter vans at no extra cost. Tell us the age and weight of each child when you book so the correct seat is installed before the chauffeur leaves for the airport.

We do. Mini charter buses for 35 and full size coaches for 56 handle fair week transfers, 4H and rodeo groups, and corporate hospitality shuttles between the airport, hotels in Sidney and the fairgrounds. Multi day charters with a dedicated driver are available for the full event.
